Okay, starting this thing back up. I would like to personally thank SyncError for making this possible. The prize has gotten smaller, but that doesn't mean it can't happen!

Cause he was running something called Step It Up about a year ago. I qualified for some playoff thing but then he disappeared and it was never ran or heard of again (until you posted this).

I always hoped he didn't die or something O_o

He was an admin, and I was the one running it, unfortunate circumstances came up, and I had to stop for a while, but now it's back, already have the keys in hand (enough for 6 months)

there is no winners tournament any longer, it's just weekly winners.

I would like to be here to be able to CAST and STREAM my own tournament. There is another admin, but is unable to cast and stream and admin all at the same time.

Not changing the date for one person. :/

Can't stop thinking to myself that it will be better to take the max elo rating achieved at some point -150/200 to it and minimum play time/number of games. That way elo cheating will be avoided.

he means u shouldnt look at current elo but at max elo achieved (or a factor of max elo). For instance mine reached close to 1900 at one point but is now below 1650 (although barely and for no other reason than that i play one person a lot and quit a lot of my games). i doubt you'd want me in this cup.

Well, that highest elo could also have been achieved more than a year ago, correct ? The rules are clearly stated, if you have an elo at or below 1650, you can compete in the tournament.

The prize is just a week of pro.

I figured that would stop aliases from hopping on trying to beat up on people with a lower elo.

In current quakelive servers, if you're around 1600 elo, but highest was about 1900, it's still going to say that you're skill matched vs the other 1600 players.

Just look at the elo in the brackets(with is the max achieved) and substract -150 or -200 to get the "real elo" for the tournament. In that way if someone drops his elo in purpose of the tournament he won't be allowed to play anyway. And most of the people are around -200 of their max achieved elo. It's nof perfect rule, but it's better than taking directly just the current elo.

Also you can take it in your hand as admin and check/decide for every player independently ala zieg style. If you are not biased should be no problem at all.

I have special tokens. :) Doesn't matter, it's free pro for a week, so far, a better prize than any other NA weekly duel cups.

i was asking because im starting to organize same kind of tournaments and i had to purchase 1 month (wich is 7$ a month while i thought it was 4 :( ). If i could get 12 units of 1 month tokens at the same price as a 12month token i want to know how!!!

nice initiative, and i really like that you're streaming it! so many times, smaller tourneys like this don't get streamed and it's unfortunate because i really enjoy seeing all levels of competitive play. good work!

also, i like cha0x_'s comment about using all-time high elo rather than current for determining eligibility - both approaches have merits, but alltime high seems a bit more bulletproof for keeping out the elites that just happen to have a low elo at the time. Or perhaps some sort of average (weighted?) between current and alltime high?

and sorry about streaming. streamed 3 matches before admin told me to stop speccing mid game during semi finals. didn't know i was hurting the exposure. i'll stop streaming future siu cups

you weren't hurting the exposure. The admins are in the wrong if they think you're dividing their viewers. This is an understandable concern if you have a stream that gets 50,000 viewers divided among a RU/FRA/ENG stream, then you may only wanna have one stream to increase the profits for that stream only... but when u have 12 viewers, it doesn't make any sense to tell someone else to stop streaming (especially when they're streaming in a far better quality than the ACTUAL stream).
