I didn't liked the game. For me it wasn't that frightening or exciting, and also the story although seemed well done, just couldn't identify with it / couldn't imagine myself in the hero's place. On the other hand I loved Penumbra.

Will try Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs sometime in the following weeks.

Yeah, I'll be getting Penumbra and doing an all night stream for that as well.

I heard AMFP was terrible.

But I haven't played it. I know it's a ton cheaper than the original.

The way that A Machine for Pigs turned out made me so fucking angry. The Dark Descent was so much better.

I suppose I should give the game another try some time, I probably missed out on some cool stuff having only played the beginning. I like horror games, but Amnesia didn't really seem to do much for me personally, I quit playing it about 2 hours in because the gameplay just kind of bored me, despite the nice scary atmosphere. On the other hand I really liked penumbra 1 and especially 2 from the same developers. Those games had a variety of great puzzles and I found the story intriguing. Not to mention also pretty scary.

That looks like a silly version of inwardhelix. I remember getting into the 80s on IH before the hosting shut off, and i'm really hoping the maker gets it up and running again.

amnesia was a nice jewel tbh, its sequel not so much, as theres a lot less enemies like in its predecessor.
story-wise isn't bad but the gameplay was kinda too simple.

soma coming out in 2015 which looks very promising, and Alien: Isolation which is probably worth looking forward to.

I couldn't immerse myself in this for w.e reason... the only part that freaked me out was when the game would take over control of your mouse artificially sometimes... cause I was paranoid about it doing something weird to my mouse!! lolo

I don't know if Machine for Pigs was necessarily a bad game, but it was definitely a bad sequel to Dark Descent. I've seen some Amnesia custom stories that would've been more fitting as sequel than that. Biggest thing for me is it seemed like they gave up on some gameplay and pretty much told the story completely through the notes/journal entries you collected. Ok, I guess it was pretty bad. :P

Outlast felt really really forced. First 10 minutes and it's literally forcing 'scares' down your throat. Everything seemed way too over the top, the players breathing/screaming was particularly annoying to me.

I enjoyed Machine for Pigs more then Dark Descent to be honest. I think because I got right into DD, I was already 'affected' going into MFP. Removing some of the clutter/unnecessary things like sanity/tinderboxes/inventory was better in my opinion.
Really, the inventory was useless in the original, you never had to decide what gear you wanted to take and what you left behind...items just disappearing once their task was done etc.
Sanity gave me nausea. It was an okay mechanic, just really didn't like how the screen blurred/swayed.
Never came close to running out of tinderboxes, plus how the lantern operated in MFP added another element or danger/suspense.

Only down side was the monster encounters were too few, and one of the main chase scenes bugged out for me, which basically removed all immersion and I stopped playing for a few weeks.

It's a game you have to allow yourself to feel the emotions to get anything out of it.
Having said that, I think if I never played DD, MFP wouldn't have been as good.
