well about the scene, there is nothing pulling them apart. no centrifugal force, no gravity. all he had to do was pull and fly towards whatever they needed to fly towards.

it really flipped me off, especially since its cited as one of the most realistic films physics wise.

theres the ultra convenient writing too. for ex every scene something bad happens, sandra misses to grab a hold of something about 10 times, untill the last piece of metal which she then barely grabs. this over and over holy shit

Well, I saw it for what it was and didn't try to analyze every bit of it. Overintepretation is always bad.
To me it's a catastrophe movie which made me bite my nails. Mostly because space or being alone in space really triggers my primal fears. Can't help it.

First of all, two of these three lines are not really dialogue, but monologue.
I'd say the "stay or go home" part is her subconsciousness talking. And I don't think that the human on the radio is giving her strength. In that situation she's as alone as a human being can get. Alone in space. Hearing another human beings voice must be really relieving, don't you think?

Apparently from what I gathered from the internetz, the decision to not give him an Oscar doesn't only have anything to do with his performance, or any technical aspects, artistic aspects. I've seen Wolf of W. and enjoyed his acting, so if he was to be the winner it would have not surprised me.

I don't follow these ceremonies at all, I don't consider myself being keen enough and having the knowledge required to talk about who deserves these prizes with the criteria they choose, but I've always assumed that it had to do with the character and the actor/actress and only that. Now I'm not saying that what some "experts" say has to be taken seriously, but if it has a little bit of truth, then politics also affects these prizes. It doesn't matter how good he acted then...

I understand your criticism though... but I feel that those movies would show that your critism is not *entirely* correct (aka they can play smaller roles or in the case of You don't know Jack a main role that's largly in 'support' of other roles.

I thought that "you don't know Jack" was quite a hmmm heavy movie (about euthenasia of elderly people). But the acting in it is (imo) really well done and the important scenes are mostly Al Pacino playing a 'supporting role' as 'the doctor that performs the act...' so the patients are the central point in the important scenes.

As for Saving Mr. Banks... well I don't neccesarily thought the movie was very good (it's ok) but the part of Tom Hanks is not extremely large and is almost entirely in support of the female character in the movie.

some thoughts. i think i read once that the real walt disney was stealing ideas from others and was a dictator at work. i have doubts that the movie characterazion of the woman is real. on a level the movie is about a culture clash, england (australia) meets usa. the message is, trust hollywood... btw the movie starts the next year anniversary of marry poppins movie, so its a kind of advertisment.

Watched Gravity yesterday, horrible movie.
Apart from the let go scene, another thing that doesn't make sense to me physically: Since the debris is "overtaking" the space stations two or three times, it's moving much faster. Wouldn't it be in another orbit then?
