i changed RAM, video card, even the hard disk containing the system partition (cloned it to my new SSD).. and i still use the same Win7 installation from early 2010

and 8 is nice as long as you don't need the drivers for your old CRT or need to overclock your usb port to 500 or 1000

Guise win7 almost works!

I have problem with new (old) RAM. Can't insert more than one RAM stick or else system freezes after few minutes.
Checked on interwebs the voltage of these sticks is 2.1V but in BIOS it says 1.7.
BIOS is from 2006 and there is no option to change the voltage or anything else related to RAM.
Does anyone has any experience in BIOS update? Or should I just kill myself?

edit. Well fuck it. As they say in potatland "you can't make whip from shit". Some guys find out how to change BIOS for Acer Aspire E380 for something usable. As the other polant saying says "I put my dick on it".

You'll need some way to get the image into your BIOS, if you want to update it. And it probably is worth it, if you have incompatibilities with newer hardware.

Yeah but this PC is wreck anyways. HDDs are shady, RAM is collage from random garbage, no space for DVD or floppy.

But at least it runs Quake with sometimes decent FPS.

I have 4 slots for RAM - 2 purple - 2 orange.
2 sets of 2x1GB RAM.
Puting a set in purple or orange caused freezes and I couldn't insert more RAM.
So I tried one set in first and third slot. Seems like it works... Maybe adding more RAM will work *HNG!*

But... is there any way to make windows7 with oldschool theme look less disgusting? Start menu shoudn't be so big :c
