The hud is a mess. Its a modification of a Hud by 8thaday i think, consisting of 5 Files. Do you really want this uploaded? ;)
And the cfg. is a little bit chaotic, too. Not the kind of config, lorfa would like.

Why change texture mode with weapon? Isn't that distracting?

Not at all... took me 2 hours to get used to it. But "lego"-quake really improves my shitty rockets... ;) I cant remember when we played last time, but you know what i mean. And everything looks so "clear" on legomode. And the total oposit happens on gl_linear. Everything around the model blurs, and you can focus better on hitscan weapons... But hey, its just me i guess ;)

Makes some sense... I guess I'd have to try it and see. :)

It's not big! It's 277 pixels if you cut the picture and check in a program, so if you convert then it's like 7.328958333 cm! (unitconversion.org), ins is not complexed!

how can you play with super high picmip? i get serious depth perception issues if i play more than picmip 5.

Do you think you can get headaches if you play with high picmip? Game is smooth as fuck (250 fps etc) but sometimes I feel like I can get a bit dizzy after a long time playing (like a whole day at least).

i have no idea, never played with more than 4-5 for the reason i said, as long as you have textures you can distinguish, i dont see how that's the reason you get a headache. Dizziness could be motion sickness, what fov do you use?

FOV 110, Quake is the only game that ever managed to make me feel dizzy after long play times, I'm gonna try to lower picmip and see.

Concentrate on your crosshair, a big crosshair helps with this.
I deal with motion sickness in vehicles by concentrating on what's in front of me and making sure not to tilt my head, concentrating on static objects that still show the motion of the vehicle also seems to help like concentrating on the dashboard and taking not that the car is moving by looking at the movement through the windshield.

was using 130 fov 1600x1200 resolution and ye had a pretty serious case of motion sickness
since then im using low fov and picmip that makes the walls different

I was a bit stubborn because I didn't wanna play with FOV 100, Rauvz told me that before anyway, well I tried picmip 4 and FOV 100, for some reason I feel better like this, I'll keep playing this way. But I had to lower my sens a little bit too. Thanks

still a bit of messiness from cyphers config that im gradually cleaning out (some q3 cvars that dont work in QL) but ive gotten rid of most of it

as for fps i have no idea cause personally i have every single setting as low as it can go except resolution (1024x768)

It's been a while, but try setting r_ignorehwgamma to 0 (I believe it is or used to be default). I don't believe you can get really bright skins with it set to 1. Unless you enable bloom, which negates setting ignorehwgamma to 1.

Hmm, that and r_overbrightbits set to 1 should give the brightest possible (aside from crazy bloom settings) skins.

As for the fps drops, is it just with this config in question or in general? People keep using and spreading around these bastardized configs that pros use that have a ton of crap from q3/cpma and a lot of redundant cvars in general. But apart from that, I haven't touched quakelive in about a year and haven't played regularly in probably 2 years. I know there was some issues people were having with the stand alone version (I think something involving speedstep).

I cleaned out almost all of the q3/cpma and useless cvars. theres still a couple but its pretty much completely clean now, i only wanted cyphers cfg cause i liked the way his gfx/lighting settings looked on his stream not cause "omg hes cypher" and thats basically all i kept of his cfg was the lighting settings fov and all that is set to what i use

but for him dropping frames it cant be my cfg i have everything as low as it can possibly go in quake live so im not sure whats causing that maybe its some of the hud elements im not sure

but anyway do you remember which ignorehwgamma setting allows you to use r_intensity?

actually the cmd was r_instensity, i got r_ignorehwgamma set to 1 and changed r_intensity to 2 and the skins looks more brighter now ( also forgot the cmd that changed the overall settings of the brightness in the map, map looks soo bright and kinda white right now :/ )

hmm thats weird i have ignorehwgamma on 1 aswell but chaging r_intensity seems to have no effect at all for me :/
