how will it divide people even more? its practically just new maps for quake 3. theyre just... a little different from normal "new" maps.

the original maker of this was hoping that it would make a lot of the quake live players go to q3, but i just think theyre really good maps, and the fact that people think its fake, not possible etc. etc. need to be proven wrong.

so what's the point again? new (old) maps for q3? how is this not a waste of time when you can go to QL and play them alot easier than DL'ing all this stuff (that you already did when you started playing QL)? What's the difference?

the difference is the fact taht QL maps dont work in Q3. the whole conversion process was a MASSIVE pain in the ass and took a while to finish... go try converting a single QL map to Q3 and see how far you get, and how long it takes. for defrag, theyre completely new maps with completely new tricks and shit, and for cpma/vq3/whatever else, theyre just remakes of old maps. not that big a deal...

but why convert them at all?

theres a list on the other forum, but i dont know any off by heart. im pretty sure ca1 and ca3 are two of the ones we dont know about, but most of the ctf/duel/TA maps are just ported to QL. and ALL of them have been modified somewhat, which technically makes them new maps. or at least different maps. also i think ctf10 is another one of the unkowns.

but see, even though most of them are just modified from the q3 ones, the fact taht theyre modified makes them worth it to once again convert them to Q3 (straight conversion without modifying the actual map), to see if we could find anything cool in them. i already found quite a few tricks on the ca maps, along with some nice tricks on other maps and stuff (im a kinda heavy defrag player), which is really cool. if they get popular, then completely new and original tricks will emerge, along with other cool stuff. and since there are a lot of people who play QL for the maps (for some reason), they might move back to the superior game: quake 3.

i think we're gonna convert the new maps that are about to be introduced to QL (the new hub3 etc.)

If people are to ever move back to Quake 3 it needs a lightweight client that's quick and easy to set up and include some sort of stat tracking and account system.

This could be as simple as using the stats .txt files that OSP/CPMA have (it can just scan the folder and auto-update in your menu).

Nobody will go back to Q3 if they have to download hundreds of maps from separate sources.

yes, it is teh game. just got confirmation from someone else whoo tested it, but if you wanna check yourself thats cool too. but the fps drops are caused by the QL game itself and not the map (well... partially the map but no fps drops in q3/ioquake)

how could the fps drops be caused by the map itself? I've played that map so many times and wondered why my fps always go crazy on it, but I didn't notice if it was just that map that makes it happen for me personally

I've managed to fix the black textures. They were actually not black but wrong textures were assigned to the weaphits blood texture. Simply copy the correct blood textures over to the QZ pk3 weaphits folder and everything will be all right. :)

There's also some newer version on the internet, dated 22 Feb 2011. It has botfiles/ demos/ music/ removed (I assume they duplicated pak0 content) and two shaders added in scripts/ , not sure what is the effect though.

While its probably not too hard getting quaklive maps into q3a using quakelivedec somehow, checking the texture/sound/shader dependencies of a map to compile a proper pak file which could potentially also be catered via autodownload can be quite tedious.

To automate the process, i made this php script (http://pastebin.com/fYJRWCUa). It converts any map found within your quakelive installation to an independent pak file, only containing the minimum required data. All you need is PHP, quakelivedec, VLC Mediaplayer (to convert sounds) and obviously quakelive.

On a side note, as long as you use the converted maps for your personal pleasure only, i dont see anything wrong with messing with the data being on your harddrive by now anyway.

Both the original creator of Quakezero and I have made our own, much better, and much more recent packs. Hopefully neither of which will get posted on this forum, but that doesn't mean posting Quakezero is a good idea. Don't do it, if not for logic's sake, then for the sake of the original creator.

Here's a link to oxotnuk's QuakeLive mappack. It's way more recent than QU4KEZER0.pk3, being dated 2014-06-01.

I have linux, they dropped linux support and I won't support that by giving them 10 $ and play in a crappy emulator. Still I want to play some quake from time to time, even if it's only against bots.
