The 295X2 doesn't even beat 780Ti SLI on some benchmarks.

It's a distinct possibility that the 295X2 has a much better price/performance ratio though.

I thought the Titan series were for professionals- high end rendering for architects, 3d modelling and design.

And the huge price is due to the advantages given to these professional fields and other series are for gamers which are much cheaper?

Their gaming cards are the same as quadro, they just have certain features that revolve around cad/cgi stuff disabled. Not sure now, but you used to be able to get a program that would allow you to install a quadro bios into yr gfx card and install the quadro drivers... making yr gaming card into a pro gfx card.

I really don't know much about this. I assumed that the quadro cards had some hardware level optimization for some specific algorithms/functions.

I assume all chip manufacturers do this. AMD's Tri-core cpu are 4 core with one disabled. Sometimes you can get the fourth core to operate properly .

Titans are not gaming cards, even though they are marketed as "Geforce" instead of "Quadro." They have double the precision of a standard gaming card which makes them really good compute cards.
