bfg destroys game. it is a no skill weapon and makes timing items pointless. seems u r not a ffa player if ur talking like that. on ffa servers only newbs or retards r using this crap weapon. its a fact. lot of players avoid this weapon on purpose.
6000+ kill, 63% acc. So precise, you can perform surgery with it. Consecutive airshots are sweet.
Especially lovely with quad / + bs. Ultimate destruction and the cries you get are priceless. ))
And no, I absolutely don't need it to win. It's just fun. ^^
Let me tell you about the LMG (Light Machine Gun). It's basically a spray as you go weapon and it yielded 0 respect from the community if you used it. Skill was to be found in the infantry or sniper rifles. HMG was also a good choice because you couldn't move to fire it, and lastly, bazooka's to the face were the ultimately "trolololol got yu0" weapon.
Now in competitive DDay all gloves come off. : you fill the 2 LMG slots, 1 SMG officer and the 4th guy usually picked either engineer or HMG, depending on map choice.. Suddenly no one cared about "errmah gerd dis weapon is so neub", no. It gets the desired kills and it makes you win.
It's the opposite team's tactical decision how to counter it, in the end, whatever mix you had during matches, LMG was always part of it.
thats the problem. cant stand it to get pwnd by a newb because of one overpowered crap weapon which destroys ur 200/200 in 1 second with no skill required.
i agree that its cheap, but no reason to remove it, let them people who get a hold of it sniff some success too, even if they're not up to par with your general gameplay.
every single id game that has ever been released has a bfg... removing it would be like removing the already heavily missed out gibs.
BFG should be remade to be something more akin to Quake2 crossed with the kamikaze powerup, a one shot superweapon that clears a room, that must be used tactically and with caution. Rather than just a spamfest noob cannon.
Make it spawn only every 90 seconds or something, which is essentially just like a powerup that you can gain a cheap 3/4 kills with as a surprise. Rather than just camping it and being a noob pest like most people do.
It's hard to abuse because there isn't that much ammo.
The way that I use it when I'm so inclined is to use it kind of like an RL and I try to hit precisely with it so as to conserve ammo.
I'll only spam it if I'm in a situation like I've lost control of the main items, and the guy who has them is stacked and I really need to blast his stack away at all costs. Of course this requires being in the right position to do something like this, opponent/map awareness etc.
"It's hard to abuse because there isn't that much ammo."
No, if you don't random spam everywhere like a headless (and aimless) chicken.
Conserve your ammo, be sure to hit, replenish at 3-5 cells ---> really nice abuse, easily 20+ frag / game with it.
If you think this nerfed version of the bfg is overpowered, you have never played with the quake 3 version, and believe me, you wouldn't like it.
QL bfg is just funny, instead, because it still requires some form of skills or control to be useful.
It's too funny to see noobs waving around in full auto and barely hitting anything until they runs out of ammo.
If there's a weapon that is badly overpowered, that's lg. And if you are remotely good with it, you're gonna rape the bfg carrier in most of the situations.
Even a skilled rocket launcher beats a noob with an half empty, shacking bfg with ease.
An average railgun absolutely embarrass a far away bfg player.
A bfg never made a noob to win a game, nor to change anything relevant.
Be unlucky with few spawns, or miss a quad, and you'll have given anyone else more advantage than a full bfg ever could.
Lastly, skilled players don't use it much, for various reasons. Timing items and powerups, and trying to get rl/lg/rg is way more important and takes too much time to aimlessy rush the bfg.
Take a quad powerup, switch to machinegun and you already have a more versatile and overall useful weapon than that nerfed ql version of the bfg.
Usually, when someone whines much about stuff like the bfg or maps like dm13, or the netcode, you can instantly know that they simply aren't good enough with the game, and they need to blame it on some external reason.
