this is osu! a f2p game by some aussie. It's heavily inspired by japanese rhythm games and most high level players use the keyboard for the rhythm part. It's insanely addicting and insanely hard :)
Full song customs. I play Phase Shift for custom drums.
FoF was just a crappy crappy version of Guitar Hero 2 customs. There was a community of modders that had it rigged up. One of the problems was that the notes had to be tabbed out by ear onto charts for the game, so a lot of people who aren't musically inclined made things like solos WAYYYY more difficult than they really are. Playing songs that were 'overcharted' made me and my bro get crazy good at GH really fast.
To get the customs to work, you would copy your game onto your PC, swap out the info on the disc, and then burn a new PS2 disc. To get it to play, I had to put in my GH2 CD, slide a cut up gift card under the tray, pop the tray open while the disc is loading at a precise mental count, then swap CDs and pop the tray back in. It was wicked fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFGGe8mO80c
^ 2nd most fun song
Widow of La Porte has many similar moments to FoF version. Didn't GH controller break after so much strumming? I mainly played on old Mac keyboard and couldn't "feel" the strumming when playing on guitar controller. Would be much better if there was an actual string.
My GH1 and GH2 controllers hold up great to this day. The whammy bar spring on the red one went out, but that's nothing some rubber bands on the inside can't fix.
I wouldn't be surprised if the BWOLP was the same chart that you may have played. There was a lot of overlap.
There were some great developers making the process really easy for us common folk. Charting out your own songs was literally as easy as scrolling up and down the track and hitting 1-5.
I tried to chart solo from Comfortably Numb in some clunky java software - it's harder than it seems. Making a good song in GH requires some knowledge and experience.
Stuff like Cry for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w-cmL6EF-0
make you feel like actual playing the guitar.

Feedback is the bomb. Every now and then I will use it just to slam out some drum parts I want to learn how to play on my actual kit and play along.
#1 rule, learn to properly use anchors. If you're still into this stuff, read some guides and go get a freaking PS2 if you don't have one. GH2 customs on PS2 is #1 GH game.
Naaah last console I owned was copy of Famicom : - :
I play FoF from time to time. I guess the only thing that would make me consider buying proper controller would be Rock band with friends but I don't have neither of those :`D
:D
The only thing that is better is the spacing betwen buttons. But then again I guess newer controllers have two sets of buttons for "normal" play and solos?
I promise I will buy proper controller at some point in my life :D
The GH1 and 2 controllers are the only ones worth it. They last much longer and function much better. The rockband controllers are garbage. The GH2 360 controller breaks and false registers a lot. The GH3 Xbox controller is good, except the neck is detachable and you will have faulty connections often.
Wow, they found out how to take a pile of shit on it.
I'm guessing they don't sell older controllers? : )))
Now playing on keyboard doesn't sound so lame ]:}
how about when you're really nervous and even clicking your mouse makes your aim shake (especially if you use high to mid sens), so binding attack on keyboard might be a good idea. This was the main reason I did bind space +attack after 3 years of using mouse1 as attack
If anyone is wondering if being good at osu has to do with being good at fps, no. There are a lot of people good at osu who are horrible at fps even with 1 billion hours played.
