I have both the Steelseries I-2 and the Maxtill g2-pad and both are perfect for me.
Even though the surfaces are made slightly differently they are both great.
Prolly the steelseries icemat is the winner when it comes to pure smoothness though.
But there isn't a whole lot between then imo, and i prefer the maxtill, because it seems there is a less scratchy noise when moving the mouse along and is easier to keep clean, weird I know since they are both made of glass.

I use this Vance frosted cutting board with a Sensei RAW and it's amazingggg.

It tracks like poop witha Xornet (lotta jitter, low malfunction) and Naos3200 (huge jitter), but my mx518 and IE3.0 (@ 1000hz) are flawless. The IE3.0 needs an overclock or else it doesn't have a high enough malfunction (for me.)

it worked out and to say its a quality product is an understatement. Its designed for maximum precision autoCAD industrial design etc.

ADNS 9500 can track up to just over 6 m/s on it. I'll try and find the vid. It was a japanese dude testing a g9x hooked up to a komaq gpad that had been cut into a circle as a custom order and then attached to a motor with the g9x clamped in place.

So what feet do you use with it?

As long as the accel is consistent then it shouldn't matter, I haven't seen sensei tests as of yet(of accel curve consistency).

Mouse pad is pretty damn big and was packed really securely.

It's not low friction, it's high friction. It's like the rough side of a plastic hard pad but lasts forever.

I'm an icemat guy but I do agree it is a completely different feeling.

What I like about this mousepad is that when my icemat gets hot, it tracks differently, the mousefeet feel a bit sticky.

But on this nigga it always feels the same. It's pretty nuts.

If you like rough feeling pads, this is YOUR nigga 4 lyfe.

See my understanding of physics is admittedly not the best.

But, I will tell you that in my experience the G-Pad, despite having grit, has less friction than any cloth pad or plastic pad I have tried ... and I have spend an embarrassing amount of money on too many pads.

unless you put an enormous amount of pressure down on your mouse, i find the grit actually helps the mice move faster, with less friction (reduced surface area contact w/ mouse feet?) but if you push on the mouse really hard, itll have a fair amount of friction.

In my experience it tracks night and day better than my green icemat on just about any mouse.

It does glide ok but the texture makes it more grippy when you want it.

It feels like more friction or at least more control than other pads I have.

I use super high sensitivity though, so maybe that's why I think it is more friction, since i'm only using a small circle in the middle of the pad.

well if i push down hard on my cloth pad, the friction definitely changes less than when i push down quite hard with my gpad.

The cloth pad seems to hit a maximum value.
The Gpad seems to have more friction the harder i push. (ie positive correlation)

I usually claw / fingertip grip so I , generally, apply almost no downward force.

try and hold your mouse w/ only 4 points of contact: mouse 1, mouse 2, left side w/ thumb, right side w/ ring finger.

Thats how i hold the mouse and that way my zowie cloth pad has more friction.

Right now i'd say that it's pretty damn good. I'm impressed with it. The company that are making them now accepts paypal so it is easy to do business with them.

I'd definitely recommend it, but only if you like rough texture on your mousepad. If you hate that texture then you might not like the pad.

the green icemat turned out to be not one of the better color icemats for optical trackin with mice. The best ones were proly the blue and black, blue proly the best. white the worse with many mice not workin on it.

Artisan also has a tempered glass version as far as i know.

Just bought the g2-pad from gmarket - maxtill doesn't distribute overseas.

The pad comes with 8 (12?) additional mouse feet you can use to increase friction: I would say that without feet, it's slightly faster than artisan hien (the PE coated one).

Also, g2 is robust (tempered glass) and very fast to clean, i expect a very long lifetime from it.

The pad is not really expensive - about 20$ - in the mouse pads context, but it's just sandblasted glass with 4 rubber stands and EU shipping fees are quite high (if you buy just one, the total will be ~40EUR).

i've played on g2 with rival, g400s, wmo, sensei raw, ime 3.0, am, da 3.5. no (additional) issues.

I think that the only problem with this pad is the huge friction when your hand/wrist is humid.

So close to 60€, gotta find people to make a group order together meh.

I am not sure if that's what you're looking for, but anyway...
the particularity about it, against cloth pads, imo, is that smoothness is quite higher than friction.
by comparison, I would say it feels as smooth as my hien, but friction is much lower.
if you need the smoothness of qck+, forget these pads. if you like low friction and just fair smoothness you may love it. or just lube it good :D

Durability was what I considered most when I ordered my glass mousepads, I don't know if a light glass coating is enough.

My main consideration was low friction, I imagine that glass has a higher friction than glass coating because it's flatter, but I haven't tested it.

When it comes to durability, the meaning of 'enough' depends on your tolerance, it does wear away with time like any soft pad. Mine's had about 4 months heavy use now and it's still hyper smooth, although I do expect to have to replace it one day, like any normal mouse pad. I would expect however for glass coated cloth to last longer than cloth alone, but less time than a pure sheet of glass.

speed is quite similar, but it's a bit easier to control the mouse on shiden (xsoft) than g-pad.
however, shiden is so soft it seems my mouse will sink in it. also, you notice a lot dirt and you have to brush really hard to clean it (what about the coating after 3/4 times?)

You do get a bit of dirt it is true, I don't brush mine off though, I just rub it gently with my fingernail. If it doesn't come off with gentle persuasion I just leave it and don't worry about it.

maybe glass coatings wear away I really don't know, but I can assure you my G-Pad is as new as the day I got it. Now, I do not own any advanced microscopes (electron or otherwise ;3) nor do i have before and after shots of my G-pad

BUT if you take any mousepad that has been worn, shine a light on it at the right angle, you will see which area has been effective eroded/polished/sanded/ whatever you wanna call it. Cloth gets frayed and/or discoloured.

My gpad is entirely uniform colouration/pattern, even when shining lights on it etc. All areas are either worn evenly, or not worn at all.

FWIW komaq g-pads are not marketed towards gamers at all. They are marketed towards AutoCAD drafters and ETC. Industrial design peeps who need the utmost precision.

In my experience w/ multi material mousepads there is always a weakest link of the materials and that one causes an issue first and ruins the pad.

Komaq G-Pads are not flat like icemats, they are textured and have less friction than either icemats or cloth surfaces w/out excessive downward vertical pressure being applied.

I know its not for coated glass pads.

i have bought a really simple glass 3x350x450. its not totally transparent, cause one side has been put in some acid, donno the correct word for it in english. people told me that glass requires laser mouses, but i use a simple mx518 optical mouse, and works more then fine. the glass costed me a bit more than 5 euros, and this has to be my best mousepad by FAR. mouse is totally smooth on it. done no mistakes in the past 2 days.

i will have to take care of the fixing part, cause currently i just ductaped the edges to the table :D i might buy some cheap 2 sided transparent tapes, or little rbber thingies for it.

never even heard about glass pads before, until i found this post, and i was like: this is the best idea since bacon. the cloth pad alawys feels wierd if the air is a bit steamy after a hot rainy day, and all my plastic pads wears off the bottom of the mouse. last but not least, you can get as big as you want.

so this is kind of new thread, I wanted to ask if the MAXTILL G is better than the SteelSeries I-2 because from someone said when the I-2 gets warm it tracks differently.

Does anyone have any input on getting a tempered glass cutting board and staining it themselves? Would the one I linked work well or should I look into a different model of tempered glass? I know there have been a few here that have bought them but none that have stained them. I saw the Vance Elite linked earlier(http://www.vanceind.com/15x12clearelitetemper...board.aspx) but didn't see anything that actually justified the price differential.
