Well, it's not like that. Maybe in 1v1 thunderstruck, but even there would be some spam with RL. There's no point spamming in basketball, you try to hit with every shot. There is in Quake. In CA there is less spam with LG because you can't replenish ammo, but there's plenty of rocket spam and rocket jumps. In duel, there's spam with all weapons. So in my opinion, it's a silly thing to do.

if there were no spam in basketball the average accuracy would be a lot higher. theres a reason freethrows are 90% to 40 and 50% to its counterpart

In basketball they don't aim at empty corners hoping a hoop will pop up there. The only so-called "spam" there would be when there's 2 seconds left on the clock and they just throw the ball as far as they can from the other side of the pitch hoping to score. There are a maximum of 4 of those in a single match.

My point was, if anything you could call spam, that would be the only thing as that is the less certain to hit. Sometimes they hardly aim at anything just throw the ball as far as they can hoping for miracle. In Quake spam they do aim at empty spots trying to close them down or hoping the enemy walks into the shots.

They take low percentage shots, which is similar to quake rocket spams you take the shot even though it has low percentage of hitting.

CA players who aim whore are like NBA players who only Dunk which is where you have Deandre Jordan nearly 70 percent from the field but under 50 percent from the FT line at least he isnt chucking 3's like Bynum though.

JR Smith having an off night and thus having low percentage, etc. is comparable to k1llsen having an off night and not hitting his rail. That doesnt mean he is spamming it, it just means he isnt hitting his shots (= missin = lower accuracy).

Yes, in basketball there are lower and higher percentage shots, but it has nothing to do with spamming. It's just like shooting LG at a falling enemy is 100% and shooting LG at someone left-right strafing is 40% LG (or whatever else). That doesn't mean that you're spamming your LG when aiming at someone who is strafing. You're just missing more.

But in Quake people spam all the time. You can spam your LG at a corner, just to deter the enemy from coming around it. Not because you are actually intending to hit. Same with rockets: you use them to lock down choke points without necessarily expecting it to hit, just to 'scare off' the opponent. Or rocket jumps, etc...

It's absolutely not comparable to basketball. Spamming in basketball would be to like.... throw the ball at another player's feet hoping it will make him trip... lol.

But.... they wouldn't do that, because you would lose the ball. And there is only 1 ball in the game. In quake there's 'unlimited' ammo. Another reason why you don't spam in basketball, but in quake you do.

I get your point. There is strategical use for guns like RL and Grenades to gain more ground and keep them in check, where as LG and RG are only used when your opponent is visible. (well lg can be teleport spammed i guess). So I guess that would leave LG/RG club, because rest of the guns are kind of lame for accuracy calculation and plasma gets also spammed.

Not only teleport exits, but also corners. There's a lot of prefiring with LG in duels. You will usually see Evil having quite low accuracy while hitting sick shit.
While RG is the least spamy weapon it's also used that way by pros to fire at angles where the enemy could camp with a rail. That's why you see a lot of "blind exchanges", or people hitting invisible enemies.

neither does the rest

unlike the NBA score where every "shot" is meant to hit theres spam in quake and fake increasing of stats is fairly easy. accuracy only gives a very vague idea of how/what a player is playing or against who and doesnt directly translate into "how good can one aim" at all.
