no idea if its due to high picmip or relativly low fov but the blur worked in this instance. just like 3rd person frags its not a bad thing per se when used with caution.

Zoot said it's not a fragmovie because there are no special effects and no credits. That's what makes it awesome. No unnecesarily long and boring intro that nobody cares about except for the guy who made it, no overediting that takes away from the action and no dubstep. Only awesome frags. Love it.

I never said this compilation is bad at all (just to highlight), I enjoyed it a lot and I'll probably watch it again a few more times at some point. Although it doesn't have any structure, theme, player introduction or anything you'd find in a more conventional high production value frag movie.

I don't think I'm being very rigid at all, I think that people are getting pretty assy because I may be defining something differently to what people are used to. If I put a load of frags together and used a more neutral config (not even my play config) and put some music on top with the occasional frag/music sync, I wouldn't tell people "hey, check out my frag movie!". I would say "hey, check out my frags!".

People can feel free to make jokes about what I'm saying, I'm happy that I have the chance to put across my own opinion on stream and get people to discuss it. I've listened to what people have said to challenge my opinion and I don't feel like I've been challenged to the point where I need to change my definition of a frag movie (albeit a pretty vague definition at the moment). Some people could call me stubborn, but I could say the same thing in return - so meh :)

Let's compare this movie to your example of DaHanG 2010. The structure of DH2010 is a stream of random frags, with one small commentated section near the end, and spartie ragequit in the end. The structure of this movie is a stream of random frags with strenx-pissed-off section in the end. I don't really see a huge difference in structures of these movies.

The main difference I see is in sophistication of effects and editing, so generally you just seem to like nice effects and sync in movies, while other people like the actual content - the frags, since that's what all fragmovies are about, and they don't care about what's on the exterior, that's why they have no problems calling anything with good frags "a frag movie".

I guess you didn't watch the dahang movie properly to notice the clear differences.

Well, the thing is the differences have nothing to do with movie being a frag movie. Actually, to be honest, the frag contents of DH2010 is a bit less exciting than twister's. So if you prefer DH2010 to twister's movie, it means that you don't care about frags and care about their stylistic presentation which is of course much better in DH2010.

So now when you say that "true" frag movie is a movie like DH2010, i.e. something that's rendered and presented in a very professional way, but may contain some boring frags, and that a movie that just has some very good frags, but they aren't presented professionally, is not a real frag movie, I think it's YOU who got the terms wrong, not everyone else.

I heard someone calling dKsL the 'Spielberg' of quake fragmovies. I think sums it up pretty well. The videos he makes are the closest thing we have to a proper 'movie', and is worlds apart from a frag compilation. The two can barely be compared.

Eh, the dahang movie, really? I don't see it.

I would have understood if you were making a distinction to movies like the rtcw history movie I've made, that sort of tells a story.

I could also see where you would be coming from if my movie was a pure demo+mp3 frag movie ŕ la Fragged by Gopher (or should I be saying frag compilation?). But that's not the case, the movie has a fair bit of editing and synchronization albeit there is plenty room for improvement.

The dahang movie is exactly like this one (and most other frag movies). It's basicly a music video where the atmosphere of the movie is set by the song and the frags are edited accordingly. Now obviously the creater of the dahang movie put way more effort into his movie and has archieved a better harmony between the song and the frags which perhaps enhances the viewing experience but at bottom it is one and the same type of movie.

I also don't understand why you say the movie has no 'theme'. While the word is very unspecific, the movie clrealy has a theme (as set by the song) which I would define as fun, uplifting. And the content and editing (fast cuts, silly transitions) was chosen to fit that theme. Again, I could have certainly done a better job with the editing and there are some moments in the songs that bug me slightly cause I could have utilized them better but all in all I'm quite content with the end product.

This movie is minimalistic compared to DaHanG 2010, and yet, minimal techno is still techno.

It's a moving picture with frags in it, thus it qualifies for the term fragmovie. It's not a term of quality of editing or special effects or credits, so that's just stupid.

Well, I think you appreciate the reason people are saying this. The word movie conveys some sort of theme to the video as a whole, or a longer piece.
