Will these two setting eliminate everything?

Turns off hp/armor/ammo/power ups (I think frag messages too, not completely sure, just going by memory).

Yes, with these two set to 0, you'll have only your xhair onscreen.

I think there's another cvar to disable frag messages, search for "cvarlist *obituaries*"

it's in the in game menus.

Crosshair is overrated.

I think you can do cg_draw2d 0, and also cg_forceDrawcrosshair 1 and it will still show the crosshair. Not sure.
