i personally canceld my order of the benq2411t(using rz2233 atm) when i read about g-sync.
even if it was available, the VG248QE is too high in price, so i'm not that enthusiastic to throw away so much money, just to have a g-sync monitor a bit sooner.
i already bought games i plan to play with g-sync, which are stil untouched. :)
I never had problems with my rz2233, not even at the first day of using it(coming from CRT@144hz). Only downside was, that i couldn't use v-sync anymore. Would like to try a CRT again tho.
I don't think its a problem. Just a shortcoming of a firdt gen 120 hz monitor and my theory is that I will feel more comfortable with a newer 144hz monitor with less input delay. Probably still not as a crt but close.
You mentioned you have some games ready for g-sync, what are they?
there is another downside of this monitor: the bigger the screen size the more motion blur you get from eye tracking.
1080p already doesnt look smooth like 1024x768(gpu-no scale) on same hz same monitor.
ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q:
it's 2560x1440@144hz. only DisplayPort connection. pricing: $799 USD
availability: beginning Q2 (Asian Pacific, European and North America markets)
that G-SYNC tech is strongly depends on game engine and have additional input lag if fps > hz.
correct me if i wrong.
imho that tech is much better for some single player fps with unstable low fps which is the cause of noticeable screen tearing. at same time it can delivery frame faster than 144hz monitor without g-sync. this means less input lag.
better to hear some quaker's experience with ASUS VG248QE G-SYNC.
I will share my own experience on QL IF:
- there will be enough kits when I can afford it
- someone who already installed the kit where I live can help me because I'm too afraid to do the installation by myself (I know some people but they live in different cities, unless one in my city is available ='D)
The already available vg248qe can be found cheap if you are lucky and you don't have to buy the G-Sync yet, and you will add the G-Sync when you have the extra money, or you buy the model with G-Sync ready, but if you buy without then careful because it's not a "lego" task haha, you have to disassemble the whole monitor :D.
I just bought the Asus VG248QE With the G-sync DIY kit.
After one day I can only say this...
G-sync is slightly overrated, It gives you low but, to me atleast, noticeable input lag.
I much more prefer the ULMB(UltraLowMotionBlur) setting over g-sync(you can't have both). In addition to this you cannot run ULMB higher than 120Hz. But that's OK since, With g-sync on, you get more input lag running at 144Hz anyway.
Now I run With 120Hz/120fps, With ULMB On.
Even though G-sync is good, I never said it sucked, I still prefer not to use it.
I totally removes the tearing, which is noticeable when you run With V-sync Off.
Another thing I noticed when running G-Sync is that every 1-2min there is great lag, even just for a split second.
It's odd, and it might be a driver issue, but I've tried both the 337.88 and the 335.23 drivers, but it has the same problem. I also removed Geforce Experience, but to no avail.
So if you have a monitor that support 2D Light Boost or ULMB I suggest you use that over G-sync.
