I don't know one pro that haven't had had multiple accounts at one point. To be honest its a really shitty reason to ban someone. And i know for a fact that people working at ID knows about of these alternate accounts so the double standard here is pretty shitty imo.

that said, i know nothing about this ban in particular. just stating what i think is a shitty reason to ban someone(if it even happens, which i don't really know..)

I personally made maybe 6-7 accounts over the course of 3+ years. I never once used them all at the same time. So basically, I played on one account for half a year, then got a new account, played on it for half a year, got new account, etc.

My accounts get regularly reported by people thinking I cheat etc, so it gets some good attention at the support team.

Well, one day, I got banned (on all accounts). It turns out to be IP and Hardware ban. Changing IP didnt work, and I tried to change my MAC Address as well (but have no experience doing that), but it didn't work out. So not exactly sure if I did something wrong or if their banning is actually pretty solid... :)

I contacted them on IRC, told them about it. They checked my ban, and voila, it was a LIFETIME ban for having more than 2 accounts. Really, a lifetime ban for having more than 2 accounts over 3+ years, without me even going back to the old accounts? They should at least offer an easy 'delete' option for old accounts... or a 'renaming' option to use new names. Heck, in some other games, you can change name on the fly while in a server via console.

Anyways, in my case it was easy to get unbanned again, but others probably arent that lucky/fortunate...

Either way, the punishment is way to harsch for that. And the thing is, pretty much everyone I play with has more than 2 accounts, and none of them have been banned for it. It seems like they don't check/find out that you have too many accounts unless you get reported a lot by other players and thus attract attention by the support team.

Not being a pro is probably one of the reasons he's still banned, likely none in id has noticed the ban.

Judging by the maturity of his posts i doubt aswell that the only reason he was banned is merely because of multiaccount but since i don't know him i give the benefit of doubt.

And for the conclusion.. I don't understand why are you spamming ESR with this.. why wasting time when you could be making a frag movie? That seems to work well.
