I've only seen a few people in the past having their accounts banned, and then being given the option to keep 2 as the T&C's allow.

In one day I saw three users posting complaining their accounts had been *permbanned* for multi accounts, and they're not being allowed to retain one.

The severity of it makes it a crackdown, I wouldn't know any more about the numbers involved unless more try to whine about it on the forum.

tl:dr, if sync is friends with you, you wont get banned permanently, and when you do get caught and when it becomes a public esr shitstorm, it´s just a temp ban to save face for sync, like in the case of effortless.

id_entity i really don't get your point,in these months i saw everything,i think a lot of people reported me and i explain you why,sometimes ago i created a clan (hsl) i was noob (i'm noob also now but less) but i was able to let enter some good players,other users who knew me were envy and started trolling me creating fakes and searching to enter in my clan only with the aim to humiliate me,they made videos on me,others posted things on fb groups like hsl clan is shit ecc,and i'm simply gone on,who knows me well understand what i'm talking about,then this attention is probably for that.

btw i don't want to be insulted by an id_entity that don't play from 2 months but stay on the ql forum (do you have fakes?) i should report you to id support maybe.

its good for noobs too, it can help them to be better (learn from experienced players)

Hello friends, my friend wew has touched upon a very delicate topic. As his friend ive seen the work he puts into good sportsmanship. This man works hard to spark up the italian ca scene with clan wars. I dont think many other players think about the other players. Also one of his ban reasons were 'harassment of other players' but in reality he is the one getting harassed most of the time, he probably never reports it. Overall the quake scene has lost a great player. And i demand that his ban is removed.

The problem I have is Sync has been a bit inconsistent in supporting the terms. You have people who get caught cheating and our permanently banned. Sure they come back on different accounts but if you alert either Sync or Sasparillo they will ban them. Yet you have someone like Effortless who's account was banned for cheating and he's back as Effortl3ss. Clearly they are aware of this and have done nothing about it.

You also have a clear example with someone who was identified as a moderator a while back. Incubus has created several accounts and continues to do so. At one time someone mentioned he knew Sync so he'll never get banned.

This should be black and white. If someone violates the terms/rules they should get permanently banned. Yet for some reason if you know someone or have played in tournaments before you get to bypass these rules.

the problem is not if you get banned or unbanned you play the same,the problem is that banning doesn't work it's a tecnical problem and i don't think id will spend money on a game that is gone to die and how can 3 moderators do the job of hundred of people this is a nosense

That said, if it's true your only fault was to have more than 2 accounts (ok lots of them) then it's just not fair banning you permanently without warnings or temporary bans first.

I agree that there's a technical problem and that a limited number of moderators makes it difficult.

What I was stating is that there are people who abuse the terms of service and have been previously banned for cheating that Sync and Sasparillo may be aware of who are allowed to do this.

Effortl3ss was banned like 28 months ago on multiple accounts for cheating.Yet he has been back playing on Effortless since Jan of 2013. He apparently was let back in as he said he was only testing the cheats on other accounts. So does this mean if anyone else is caught they can just say they were testing a cheat out? Whether he currently cheats or not he should still be banned.

My point about Incubus is everyone knows he creates multiple accounts. Just because he's been a moderator and knows Sync he is never banned for this.

If you violate the terms no matter who you are you should be banned. While there are technical challenges to this if it's obvious who you are or people submit proof that you have created these accounts or you openly admit it you should be banned. Sure you'll come back as someone else but at least keep it consistent.

yes its automatic, but if you do shit deemed inappropriate for ql, then they have a reason to terminate your account without having to tell you why in full detail.

But I've never yet seen a ban without good reason, bots, serious harassment of staff, 50+ accounts when t&c's state 2 max...

One thing I've noticed is that a lot of these players asking to be unbanned severely downplay their supposed violations.

Sometimes it's far, far worse than they make it out to be and their bans are totally and completely justified.

One day, all my accounts were banned. I tried resetting IP, still banned. I tried changing MAC address (and IP at same time) and was still banned.

So I go to IRC and ask why exactly I was banned (since I only got a standard E-Mail with no specific reason). They checked my ban, and it turned out to be a LIFETIME BAN (but wouldnt go into further detail about IP/Hardware-Ban, etc.) for having more than 2 accounts.

I have made approximately 6-7 accounts over the course of 3+ years. I never used more than 1 or 2 at the same time, meaning when I made a new account (after like half a year or year), I completely abandoned the old ones.

My account(s) do get a lot of attention at the support team, since I get reported for cheating regularly. Pretty much all of my friends have more than 2 accounts, but they have never been banned. So I assume they don't check/notice the number of accounts, unless you get a lot of attention of the support team (for people reporting you of hacking, or whatever else).

I had the luck of getting unbanned since they happened to know who I am. But damn, the poor guys who get lifetime banned for having a few too many accounts over the span of many years...

They really need to offer an easy option of deleting the old accounts. I would have no problem deleting my old/unused accounts. And/or also offer an easy option of renaming. In some other games you can easily rename, sometimes even during playing via console.

I mean, it doesnt even have to be 'that easy'. But right now it's just ridiculous and you can't really lifetime ban people for wanting a new name after a year...
