For the last couple of years I played QL on a shitty old laptop with 40-70 FPS on lowest settings possible. On this one I get stable 125 FPS but it's heating up a lot so I'm a little worried.
Again, don't have rights. Ended up using the competitive preset config with my binds. It's good enough. The problem is I don't have my mouse and pad with me so I have to use some Genius mouse that appears to have a huge acceleration. Can't even plasmaclimb to red with it, it goes crazy.
Dunno, tried it before when it was still in browser and it didn't work. I installed it to desktop and it gave me a few errors but the installation went through. Also managed to install Q2 multiplayer, Dosbox and utorrent by some miracle. Tried to install countless of other programs and games but it didn't let me.
I used to run QL from a USB drive when I was at Uni, I just had to create a junction for the "id software" folder on the uni machine under my user profile.
Now QL is standalone, not sure about how to deal with the launcher so it updates files, but
is the default for quakelive.exe, but you can change that so you could run it from any location directly too.
you can pull the rest of the parameters the launcher uses to start quakelive.exe from quakelive_launcher.log that you will find in %temp% (type literally that including percent symbols into start>run or explorer address bar to jump into the right dir) there is some account specific stuff there so don't show it anywhere.
