The menu doesnt work. I click "join game" then on the side menu I cant click anywhere

You need to double click the menu items, found that out by accident.

From the screenshot it looks like something from 1998. Will give it a try tho

I usually defend indie projects but this looks like something a student would code in a weekend.

It reminds me of some hampster/gremlin-jetski game that came pre-packaged with one of the programs in my "video game design" class in highschool.

movement wise the game is actually pretty good for an alpha but visuals are 0/10 and that is coming from a guy that gives a shit about visuals

not going to comment on visuals.

gameplay wise - I'm a bit conflicted; on one hand it seems like you are clearly trying to do something new and have taken small steps in that direction, but haven't fully developed the ideas and concepts. for instance the movement - jetpacks, walljumps and quake3 strafe jumping about sums it up.

the items - trying to change up the item collection formula by removing armor and having 'ammo' collection instead is different and i'm sure it will play differently, but it is still the same old pacman style gameplay that doesn't have much appeal...

there are lots of other things but i dont want to write a wall...
