I'm sure this has been asked before, but I wanted to try dabbling in some video editing, so what programs do you need to make a QL frag movie? I'm a complete beginner at this stuff. I have a new computer with Windows 8. ty
QLDT can still be used to search in demos and manage them, but they are not really needed. Fraps isn't needed either since you can use wolfcam to record the frag to a video file immediately (even with motion blur and other settings).
I only see the GBP prices, I thought maybe they'd be like a lot of other companies and do their own 1:1 conversion instead of follow exchange rates, that's usually what happens.
When Vegas started it was a simple competitor to Adobe Premier and there wasn't much else to combat it, Adobe Premier is £210/86 a year now on the creative cloud. You can't buy it stand alone.
Not 100% sure how the CC works, but I do think if your subscription expires the program does stop working, it's not a case of you just stop getting patches.
LightWorks is a fully professional package that went free (There is still a comercial pro ver with more funcitons : http://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_cont...Itemid=213 ) and Blender is open source that turned pretty great after many years work, and has produced some real pro stuff. I haven't heard of anyone using either for Quake movies yet.
where there are a lot of other users of that program so the likelihood of someone else having had the same problem and knowing what you need to do to solve it is increased.
If it's not that big of a project Sony Vegas and Wolf Whisperer will probably do fine for you.
If you want to create special effects, cool transitions or epic sounds (music mixing). You might want to use something like Adobe After Effects for video effects, Photoshop for image editing and Audacity for sound editing (there are a lot of other tools you can use, but these are the main ones imo).
To be honest, I am not really experienced with sound editing and never used ableton. I did use audacity though and its great for small edits and really lightweight. But ableton sounds (he) like something that is worth a try.
my friend, you can make it without any "instrument/midi control etc" but it takes too long, you need a lot of patience to do it. I'm not sure if i'll buy a midi-controll..
a friend of mine bought a Ableton Push, have you seen it?
Yes, I just saw it in the video you posted earlier :P Like I said, it looks great and relatively easy to use but not really something you would need if you are going to make a frag movie, which is more about actually mixing songs together.
