Sad news :(..

As I stated before, I will be more than happy to organize a TDM lan in Bucharest (I have experience in organizing quake competitions/lans)

I put some details in my post here .

To keep things simpler and safe, Wision or Memento could be in charge of donations, I could pay the rent for the icaffe from my own pocket, until the 'bank' arrives in Bucharest.

What do you guys think? Just give me the 'green light' and I'll start the arrangements.

Will it help more if I'll do a proper news post?

I'm part of a non-profit organisation that organises bi-yearly LAN parties. The next event is in October and we're working hard to find and talk with sponsors to get 16 PC's at the venue with 120hz monitors. We had a potential sponsor but he couldn't deliver.

Consider the 20 and up option as a community. You can buy the tickets as 1 group and then have seperate clans to compete in the competitions.


The venue is at 't Bau-huis in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. It's literally next to a major trainstation connecting all the big cities. European visitors can come in via Antwerp (trains Thalys, Eurostar, TGV and Deurne Airport (small airport)) or Brussels (Brussels Airport (main airport)). Of course it's also located in several intersections of autostrades (motorways) E17 and E34, Brussels via A12 to N16 or via N9 to N47 to N41.

IBIS hotel is nearby.


There will definitely be Quake Live hosted, it's not up on the site because we wanted to do a seperate announcement once we had a sponsor. If no sponsor or solution is found it will be a BYOC event just like the rest. Hardware prizes will be available but we couldn't find any sponsor interested for cash prizes. It could be community raised.


edit: if there's enough interest we'll arrange some cash for a cash prize.

Bau-huis is a new venue for us. Bigger, better, no windows in the room we rented. It's a repurposed warehouse for these kinds of events.

man, an international quake event in Belgium, is my dream finally becoming reality? I don't have any experience with events, and I work on sundays, but I will support this event in ANY way I can.

This is very sad. The first Prague Lan was great and I had hopes for this to become a recurring event.

About the alternatives, belgium / romania, I'd be happy to handle donations the same way I did for dreamhack (bank transer or paypal) and then deal with the organizers and players for the prizes, but first I'd like to see concrete plans and the reaction of the community (in particular of the people who would eventually participate).

Even though the BEL one seems nice, I already know that it is happening at a bad time for me. So I personalty i'm waiting to see if I could (and would want to) finance a trip to ROM. Apart from costs, depends on how attractive it is and the feedback from other players.
