Join Tastyspleen.tv on Friday night as we dive head-first into some boom-stick head-smashing DOOM 2 ACTION. We'll be moshing around in OMGMAPS, a set that is as classic as it is retarded. Just supply your own spam, and we'll bring the beans. First to 50 wins each map. We'll go through the entire wad, so don't blow yours before we're done!

That's where some of the community still is, but the client hasn't been updated in forever. Odamex has some features (especially in the spectating department) that make it more appealing moving forward.

Tried tp look for some games through odamex launcher and all servers were empty. Couldn't find 1 player.

i had the same experience. i dont know why. maybe because odamex is the youngest client.

the three big mp clients (doom ports) are: zdaemon (2001), zandronum (2012) which is follower of skulltag 2006, and odamex (2007).

It is usually like that for me. Although, when I with a few my friends (4-5 players in total) jumped on one of the servers, after some time some other people joined (1-2 maybe).

All of the bindings are available in the menu - scoreboard should default to tab.

One note in odamex is that you can choose between 35hz and 60hz framerates in the Video Mode menu. Take a minute and go through all of the options - the menu is pretty filled out.

I went through all the menus but didn't notice I could scroll through them. I think tab brings up the map by default.
What about autoaim in player setup? Should I leave it on "always"?

Hmm, maybe you'll need to re-bind that after all.

Autoaim in the context of Doom applies to vertical modification of your shot's angle if there's a target above/below you. This is useful in servers where vertical mouselook is disabled, as will be the case tonight.

venser won a map and rude was on fire too.

my goal was not to get last on a map. when the massive telefrags started i got a bit nervous :) it is playable even with ping 150.

the shoutcast/vod was with guest and they talked about doom, quake, odamex, doom4 quakecon, quakelive rumor update etc.

Thanks Tastyspleen (Jehar) for organizing these events. It was pretty fun and surprisingly playable with 150-200 ping.
I installed Quake 2 for the 64 player FFA and I've been playing it regularly since then. Now I played Doom 2 co-op on Odamex and it was pretty awesome. Looking forward to the next one. Maybe some QW?

Really wanted to play but fell asleep (2am start) going to watch the VOD though! DOOM is just the ultimate game.

Romero is in the UK atm and hes visited a retro gaming event today, playing doom and quake against people, i read about it too late otherwise would have gone for sure!
