to save QL from bankruptcy, because they don't know how to come up wiht actual matchmaking (the true solution), so they go cheapo trying to get new players by Halo-ifing (shittifing) the game and hoping noobs will stick to it once it goes Steam.
Anyone can give me a decent argument as in to why, why in hell the classic (aka REAL Quake) gameplay is pay only? just why in hell sponge? just why in hell syncerror? just why in hell anyone? Whats the point in any case?
With this, what you are doing is giving noobs the feeling that actual Quake is what they will be playing for free, and not what they CAN NOT experience unless they pay. They will not be able to test for free, for themselves real Quake gameplay. In case they are curious, they will need to pay for it, and since they can't train under real Quake settings, as soon as they find out they have paid only to get beaten the fuck up, they will just continue playing the comfortable-lazy noob gameplay which was available for free in any case. As soon as noobs realize it's not worth to pay to get beaten by a million frags, they will not care to pay for it. Which puts real Quake even further away from being even tried out by the adventurous noobs that want a real challenge. They are FORCED to pay now. Who is the dumbastic moron taking these decisions in id software? For real tho.
What has to be left clear for everyone here is, REAL QUAKE is what you are going to call "classic". Every noob must know that they are not playing actual Quake. So I vote for "Quake ruleset" and "Noob ruleset" simply put, in these literal terms. They must know they are noob, and they must know they are not playing true Quake. You know what I will hate, when these kiddos think they are though shit braging about how good they are at Quake, but then you find out no one of them plays actual real Quake and no one plays against you, because you will be "the weirdo that plays that weird 'classic' pay only gameplay" and the actual Quake gameplay will get ostracized even more, by people that thinks they are playing Quake. See how objectively stupid making classic aka real Quake pay only is? Give me a solid argument you marketing geniuses at id.
