I checked out your game a couple weeks ago. Will keep you all in mind while I wait to see how the upcoming QL update plays out. One of the biggest disappointments in the leaks about the update is lack of matchmaking any time soon for QL. You guys should put a lot of focus on that. If your game becomes remotely popular then matchmaking and ranking up could really help maintain the momentum.

Reflex is a pre-alpha game with 0 players. It'd be really silly to host a lan tournament of that in 2014, even showing it to the masses.

Maybe in late 2015, if the game looks somewhat finished and there's interest.

I'm in the DC area so I would probably attend.

QL has many issues for having it officially in esports and advertising events, which make it unfeasible for your project.
1.- How many QL duelers are willing to go there to play, without big prizes announced? 10 at best, of which 4 will show up and none will be willing to teach. That's the state of affairs in NA, particularly at the east side
2.- People outside here aren't interested in QL. There are much better games to show and teach people about. There's a reason why every single esports organization dropped Q3/QL.
3.- QL has no lan support, practically requires having to the very least two "pro" accounts" and in the end you are never in total control of your event. You are bound to ran into networking and practical issues there.

As someone said, do yourself a favor and host a CS:GO tournament instead. It'd be much easier and much more successful to host something with that or minecraft, or get microsoft to sponsor your event showing off and having a competition of forza horizon 2, etc., but certainly not QL.


However, if you still want to do something with quake and show the game off, what would be best is using either Q3 or Q4 as a side show, hosting an always running free for all server for anyone that wants to play. It only takes 8 random laptops and someone there to organize things, such as time playing limits and making sure things aren't stolen. The games are free (c'mon they are), it's a lan server (no issues) and you have control of everything.

The reason is that in that type of event what's always missing is somewhere to actually play something, instead of just watching advertising from microsoft and watching others play competitively in already closed cups. Kids in particular really want to play stuff and adults want their kids to stop being a nuisance. That's where Q3/Q4 can be used and where it shines, as a sort of arcade game area in case you don't want to have actual arcades or minecraft tryout booths. Of course could be any other game, but you want quake.

If you still want tournaments, it can be Q3 or Q4 in short ffa cups, lets say four a day each lasting at most 30 minutes total, for fun and for small prizes, with anyone willing to play that's on site. Nothing with rapha showing up to play duel. If you want prizes then -in each of the four a day cups- you can give away some sponsored mice/headset, maybe medals and a cheap laptop even (or a cooller plushie).
