Did you think of different divisions? Seems like some of the match ups are going to be blowouts

^^ should take this into consideration instead of doing 16 vs 1, 15 vs 2 seedings for dub elim bracket. could do groups then advance to bracket since theres so many players signed up (which is a great thing). Since theres still a month left before the event, this can still be changed.

Yes. I have considered this, and I have no problems with changing the format of any future cups.

However since I am still working alone on the managment side of this project alone I don't think it is a good idea to change anything right now. If the cup is successful I will consider making a junior league. The issue I have with splitting the players is sometimes the skill gaps within even a two way division can be so massive it is sometimes not even worth doing. That said this entire thing really is about the community. I started this cup because all I ever heard from players regarding compeitition was "why don't they" do this or that. That's pretty much when it occured to me that "they" didn't exist and players were asking questions and giving out ideas that would never be heard. So please be vocal to "them" because "they" are listening now =D

Ideas I have for the future cups:
• Group Stages (similar to 125 fps, make it a month long event)
• Multiple Tiers (I don't think we have the player base for more than two)
• qualifiers (again, similar to 125 fps, but could help with Tiers)

this is great, with pretty nice prizes too. a few suggestions:

1. how would you prevent gaming of the map pool vote? currently there's nothing stopping someone from voting multiple times. maybe tie votes to a player somehow, and limit people to voting once?

2. have the winner of the coin toss choose who drops maps first. you mentioned preventing mind games by getting rid of that rule, but i would just consider that rule part of strategy :)

3. for bo3 and bo5, having the map picking in the pick-pick rather than drop-drop format, so that players have a chance to play their best maps

4. include all maps that have been played in a major ql lan in the pool for voting

You're able to change your vote but it will only count you once. If you really want to log in with multiple IPs and "rigg the map pool" you could. However limiting people to vote just once wouldn't prevent that either. But, yes you can vote repeatedly, but if you're on the same IP its only going to change your choices, not count twice.

Okay these are both tied to one another. You talk about strategy regarding the cointoss, but there is very little strategy in picking your best map. Also if the winner of the toss lets the other player choose first (in a pick-pick scenario) they are potentially able to get their "best map" picked for them earlier in the selection process, and in turn pick their "second best" right after. In a drop-drop scenario the toss pass makes a little more sense because you are taking a gamble to see what they drop first, so you can drop accordingly, but also taking a gamble that your choice could be dropped instantly.

Why Drop-Drop? = There is more strategy right off the bat (in my eyes)
Why No Cointoss Passing? = Essentially you just made a random cointoss not random. I get the concept behind this, but we're not tossing for sides or kick-off here =)

4. include all maps that have been played in a major ql lan in the pool for voting

The poll has been up almost two months, and the website one month (prior to date of posting this 8/26/14), I had all the maps in there. I took out all tthe maps with negative points before making the ESR post. People were essentially wasting their minus votes on battleforged (lol)

There are a boat load of really old accounts coming through that have literally not played in a year. So don't be surprised if you sign up and get an email saying you need to verify yourself. Not all of them are bogus but I've caught a few already.

(pro tip, Using the same ip for 3 sign ups is not a good idea -.- )
