He also did a lecture at some university to make up for a lacking keynote @ Qcon don't have the link anymore though (did see it).
The university one was kinda on the history of game development though and not too technical... (so I'm gonna look at this to make up for it :D)
hmmm, I always found the QCon talks quite open as well.
But there seem to be just more things to think about in his current function. As he's now much more on the border of hardware and software and optimizing that. So you need to have a very broad view and all small things matter.
While in engine development ofcourse it also all matters but you can't influence the hardware because you don't control a company that has it's own device.
