Well, I have always disliked cheats, as it sticks with them for ever, never to be trusted again. However, I want to try to eliminate that part, as it seems that there must be a solution to the temptation of cheating. Its mostly about desire for satisfaction out of a game. Or achieving their ego god like status nirl.

So I have just set up a new thread, as it is quite topical at the moment.

I was gonna do tutorials... Explaining how to actually play the game rather than walking through levels...
But then loadouts happened and I thought well screw it.

Yeah, this gametype makes some sense with loadouts.

A likely story.

I have around 9 pages of text describing the core elements of FPS / quake.
Which is nowhere near complete yet... I started writing it when they announced going to steam (because that is an awesome move) and I stopped when they said it would have loadouts / stupid movement.

The titles are:
QL BASICS Introduction to quakelive

And I was busy writing QL BASICS: Weapons - RL.

Would've also added "advanced" series and "pro" series for all of those if the basic vids would be viewed.
I kinda talked it through with my brother a bit and we were thinking about a camera setup etc.

Seems similar to the project I was planning but decided it was too much effort ;p

well I was willing to put effort into giving the "new crowd" a nice introduction into the game.
As that is one of the main things missing.

But rather than making tutorials and helping newbs improve (which was what I found to be enjoyable in quake), ID choose to just remove a lot of skill from the game equalizing the playingfield and thus destroying the thing quake was.

are we learning a video game here or a new programming language :P
