this was back in the days when Rapha was considered "lucky". Good times

oh and btw, the whole series was a real treat and a thriller, with a 3 mapper bo3 featuring:

Map 1: A shameless +back fest on a DM13 escalading into 20 minutes of game and FIVE overtimes, decided in the last 30 seconds of the fifth overtime when the first frag finally fucking occur, after 19 minutes and a half of RJ escapes, staring each other from one side to the other of the map while +speeding, plasma spam aaaand, fuck me, a grand total of 3000 dmg dealt a piece. That would be the condenders shooting 1 rocket every 30 SECONDS of game.

Map 2: The one and only Aerowalk, featuring the good old timeout after lgrape by rapha to throw his opponent off, also major dodging skills by the american resulting in a solid SIX, repeat, SIX percent rail by Cypher on a splendid 2 hits for 31 tries, 10 frags in total on the map and more overtimes, because nothing lasts forever but boring shit almost does or at leat tries really fucking hard to do so.

Map 3: we just saw it in all his majesty, a map were 3 minutes were cut because nothing fucking happened. 3 minutes out of 12 or whatever (fuck this overtimes).

You might think this is a troll post with some bullshit. But I'm telling you, if you wanna verify that what i said is real, do it at your own risk and I do not wanna deal with your parents blaming me after your death. It's your own fault if you watch that Bo3.
And this Bo3 is the epitome of the reasons i hate watching Rapha vs Cypher.

Wow, this is one of te best analysis videos I ever seen. I really like how you edited it - especially that flashback on Rapha thinking Cypher took the mega yellow and showing important situations from both povs.

isn't a bright green Keel visible enough for a demo casting on any map with graphics on high settings?

i understand this config for playing where you have to react as fast as possible to visual cues, but this is a demo casting meant to show the beauty of mindgames and tactics to people not normally engaged with the game.

come on, it's not hard. you don't show up for an interview in flip-flops and coffee stained pijamas just to show what a hardcore programmer you are. you need to present the content in a more viewer friendly way and first impression matters.

EDIT: also no powerup timers when you talk extensively about item timings seems a bit weird

A few cringe worthy moments when the person being interviewed has to tell the interviewer how to do the interview though.

It makes it a bit endearing though.

The POV of each player is shown as the player would see it, it's cypher's cfg on cypher's pov and rapha's cfg on rapha's pov.

and this is exactly how the analysis vids should be done.

Consider actual viewers? I'm an actual viewer, I really appreciated and understood what was going on with the graphics / fov changes on POV change. To see how each player views the game was excellent.

Yes, he did. But after that he couldn´t resist expressing occasionally his contempt to evil´s playstyle which he saw as inflexible and predictable. So he had his personal revenge on evil at QC2014 which brought him the feeling of deep satisfaction and fulfilment :)

Yes, but give cypher mediocre aim and put him against a smarter player, and he is nothing. Ofcourse this is my opinion, but I guess I tend to delude myself that in this game brain>aim in the end.

Any top player with mediocre aim would suck balls, and the same way you virtually remove aim, you can aswell remove "brain", making a rapha "be nothing".

This line of argumentation is really poor, just say you value brain more than aim and therefore like others players more than cypher.

Both of you are wrong.

Skill originates from realizing what you are good at and building a gameplay around that.

If cyphers aim would suck (even more) he would base him gameplay around how much risk he's willing to take.
If rapha's tactical play would suck he'd base his gameplay around timing stuff.

There are so many players out there who are better at a things than rapha or cypher are. But they fail to realize how to make use of it which make them bad players.

Most of these players are blessed with great aim, but have never had to put any effort into achieving anything so they waste their tallent and never learn to think straight.
It's having tallent + knowing how to use it that makes you great.
(btw I wouldn't necessarily call rapha/cypher great... Michael Jordan and Roger Federer are great)

Correct language is needed to make yourself understood to others. So if you can understand what is written wrong, then obviously you understand the origional meaning of my text. Which means that it is correct imo ;).

Take away Evil's aim and he's even less.

His videos are unbelievably good. One of the best things posted on this whole site (but for years ESR has been more about gossiping than actual quake, so very few hits and promotion).

Those are the player's at-time cfgs? I find it really strenge there's only one kind of crosshair and it doesn't even change size. Suspect, i would say. Also i don't think they both used white enemy models.

I recorded the video material like 3 years ago so I don't remember where i got the configs. But the crosshairs are very different?! It might be that some stuff was overwritten by wolfcam settings tho.

From what i've seen in that video, the crosshair are only two, one for Rapha and one for Cypher, regardless of the weapon they switch to.

Ah right, I see what you mean now. I don't think it is possible for crosshairs to change depending on the weapon while replaying a demo (at least in wolfcam). It is just the default crosshair that was set in the config.
