Why i play Quake (Live)? Because duel is alot of fun and you have to rely on your own skills, there are next to no games out there which favor this feature...99/100 games are teamgames nowadays, therefor most people end up in blaming others, instead of themselves....so far, fuck CA.

And every map is alot different from the others, which makes it nearly impossible to be "top-notch" in the game...because its more like the maps you have to be good at, not the game itself, to be really good.

When I get home after a shit day it's serves as a jizz ejaculation of built up frustration. I have this nervous energy even though I'm tired as fuck, don't really know what to do with myself. At that point something proactive takes the edge off. I usually just put some food in my system and sit on my pc chair to play. Then I go on to frag two hours on any given night on my fav turbo clan arena server. I know people who take up the bottle when they come home, I guess Quake is my substitute for that, hard-grained bad habit.

Also I've also always been to competitive sports and gaming. Multiplayer fpses mixes these two obsessions into a crack cocaine. I've always wondered if ESRs are more "jocky" than a standard gamer with a greater need to express competitive behavior and quake has filled that hole.

Something like that could make an interesting poll.

Ive been playing q for a long time since 99'. In fact QL is the only game ever so far to produce a literal buzz for me. I mostly play duels

because no other game like it ;o

The movement for cpma/pql can and is basically a game in itself. I'm not sure if any other movement based games even come close. And this is only secondary once you put a deathmatch element on top of it.

I would've quit if it wasn't for cpm movement. Nowadays I enjoy the relative complexity of the fights as well.

Because Quake is FKN DRUG. )

Movement is a skill

it is the only game, that i can play for 10 years and still meet people who are better than me.
So it is and it will be competetive forever. :)


I played a lot of cpm. Its ultra fast paced and that is the main reason i guess. In Duell, you are able to make more rocket rail combos etc.
In CTF / clanarena its pure fun to fly around like AN IDIOT :D
