Nope, it was a crazy goal to strive for from the outset. After just a few days it was pretty obvious it wouldn't make the goal.

As opposed to a low number where halfway through they would have to say: sorry, we ran out of money.

Its still a lot of money though. What's left to be made? The bulk is there its just additional content such new weapons and so on from their side? Art, sound and animation seems to be what they need help with. Like i said before, use the community. There is alot of talent out there that might do alot for free. Might not be as fast but they would get there at least.
I'm a professional Animator i would concider helping them when ever i find the time. And I'm guessing there are some sound engineers lurking here that would do the same.

I don't, like i said (if you would have read everything wrote instead of just the first sentence) i know the money is also meant for animation, sound and art but i still can't understand what is left to do that will take 2 years for 3 people to make, coding wise.

We're talking about 3 professional adults working in the IT industry who probably already live in what they consider a "comfortable lifestyle". Considering the average wage for a good coder in Australia is around $50-80Kp/a and the cost of living is extremely high as they live in Melbourne, the amount their asking for in terms of wages is extremely realistic.

I think their idea was to give Kickstarter a try and if it worked out then great, they get to work on Reflex full time and continue living comfortably. I also think they knew there was a high probability for it to fail and they were ready to continue working on Reflex after-hours when it did.

IOW I don't think it's a huge blow to Reflex since the Kickstarter was kind of just a shot in the dark anyway.

I don't like kickstarters and I don't like f2p if its FPS.

Make a good game and release a free demo like games used to have. If the demo is fun I will buy the game. Seriously demo or gtfo. Then I want the game to cost at about $60, at least that makes it a bit more annoying for cheaters. There will always be cheaters, but if a game cost $15 like CSGO people wont even think twice lol, and if it goes on a sale which CSGO does all the time it gets even worse :| That is why I don't like f2p for fps games.

But if people want to donate to developers go ahead, I just don't trust devs until I can get my hands on it, or at least watch some reviews after the game is released.

If reborn doesn't have pickups it can't be reflex vs reborn because pickups is what creates the true dynamics of deathmatch. Reborn would simply be another genre.
