This is my build from a few months ago. Although I went 250 gig SSD and i7.

You can up/downgrade as you please, I would assume. SSD is not necessary, but I'm very happy with it.

He said low end, lol. Also ssd is a must for your PC. It's just THAT much faster than the hdd's.

This is quite a bit lower than what I know most gamer spend on a machine.

If he can't drop the SSD and swap a few parts to knock it down to $5-600, he should save a bit more until he can.

I know, but it will still be average gaming pc(tho on the lower side of that class). Low end means his budget is strongly limited. The point of buying low end pc is different story tho.

hdd wqas a bottleneck for a long time... not so much with SSD, so yes, it is worth it as a system drive.
