Thanks for posting. I edited and removed summer time as that was part of the reason why i don't do it on Sunday again - that's the evening the switchover to CEST => CET happens and it's obvious it would be chaos. :P

I'm not sure if I will enter this one. Although I'm shit in the grand scheme of things I think myself and some of the other guys still have too much experience of playing quakeworld which results in early matches being massive scorelines and probably turning the actual new players away.

I kinda agree, however it would be solved if enough players of each type signed up, then one could just split them up in two brackets. This seems hard to do at the moment though and even if one would get a lot of completely new names among signups, it's still hard to judge which ones are completely new to arcade shooters and which ones come from similar games (which gives a great advantage). Also part of my hope was to at least get players to stick around in the IRC channel so they know who they can play outside the cups.

However, I'm thinking maybe doing a duel league (round-robin style) with divisions would be a better way of pleasing a wider range of players at the same time. Would give more time to seed players and one could probably fill up a full proper beginner's division in the bottom. In that case i'm thinking like ~8 week seasons or so with 10 players in each division, and not too much time (none?) between seasons. Goal would not be to have a super serious league, but rather encourage activity.

Edit: on the other hand the drawback of a league would be that it's a much bigger commitment to enter a league than a one night cup, which might scare newcomers away. Another option is to make it more explicit and host a proper Beginner's Cup and a Rookie Cup

Either way as long as you pit new players against each other with the seeds they should have a good time.

Sure, "good" players might take each other out early but gotta choose priorities

Yeah I think it's best to find like a day in a vacation or something, but I also think that differs per country :/

idea is great (league, maybe non competitive heh). I will participate, but cant do it on weekdays!
