ESR - #cpmduel Newbies cup

Feel free to suggest some other map. We could change the map pool a bit I guess. This map pool is set like that because these three maps are the most known maps across all quake versions and to be honest I think these are the most played maps in cpma as well. So in general I believe it is a good way how to begin with cpma - with these maps.

I would consider using other maps seen in QL like pukka3tourney2 and hektik...maybe even ztn3tourney1...or not. Also dm19, nodm9a. People used to CPM may not like them but it makes the transition a little smoother.

Rules: Challenge Promode 1.48, Double elimination, best of three, maps are decided by coin-toss (callvote random 2 -> winner decide whos map is going to be played first).

So the coin flip winner picks map 1 and 3 the other guy picks 2. Will there be a any voting maps down now that you have added a few more?

Played cpm24 just now for the first time, lots of funs to be had.

Usually, the callvote winner picks the first map, the loser the second.
If a third has to be played, call vote again, the winner veto a map and the loser veto another map, which leaves a last map to be played.

This method is widely used and works just fine.

yep, it is exactly like Sylver says. If it is 1:1 then you callvote random 2 again and from three maps left you drop - one map each. So one map left to be played. Winner of this cointoss decide who drops first - usually it is the looser because winner can basically pick from last two maps.

It's only using competition matches. And I'm questionning myself about keeping newbies cups in the ranking because it gives a good ELO to some beginners as well.

But my only match won is in a newbies cup. xD

This cup is intended for people inexperienced with cpm, people who are curious to try it and people who are in cpm for a short period of time or their skill is low. This cup is not intended for Warsow or Quake3/QL/QW veterans who are new to CPM nor for medium skilled cpma players

Mostly from what i saw yes, its one thing for there QL skills to show heavily sure whatever, but when you see they clearly know CPMA too on a much higher level then the average beginner theres not much more to be said.
