The warpy mess passed off as FFA has finally gotten to me (thus the whine post) and I have to ask, has anyone been fired from the quakelive team or is it the same 3 or 4ish people since beta?
I'm curious because I love quake. I want to know where its headed. Been a ffa addict for a silly amount of years. What I'm playing right now isn't fun. The intentionally warpy netcode against 7 other clients with intentionally warpy netcode on a warpy server.... with loadouts.... is crap. It's so bad I refuse to believe ffa is even played by the devs. Are we really still freaking pretending that loadouts were a good change?
I mean I understand trying new things, but when they don't work, maybe change it back? I don't know where or what you guys play but I see less than half the amount of players in NA ffa than I did before the steam release.
And I know I'm not the only one who notices 95% of the pub stars..ty,sniped, ergoman etc... jitter/warp thru my rails yet hit me with delayed lag shots. they have like 20-40 ping neither of those things should happen. I'm not saying those guys aren't good, they are very good and very quick which is exactly why that stutter is such a freakin problem. but of course its not warp... its the super leet dodging skills cause apparently quakes speed cap while strafing doesn't apply to them or something. Oh that's right you guys do that half arc strafe thing, which obviously explains why my rail went right through you. Add in the timenudge command and some players are literally looking in one direction while firing in another. You still wonder why the average player doesn't watch or get interested In the tourneys? go watch a texas ffa for a few maps and tell me if you ever want to willingly watch that again. It's gross.
You have a game that relies on fractions of a second to tell you who is better but built a netcode which nullifies a majority of that because it misrepresents where the player truly is if either one of you have even the slightest bit of lag.
Any long time player will tell you this game offers a fps experience that no other game can replicate. The speed, quickness, intelligence and creativity needed to excel at this game just cant be recaptured even after all these years. It a classic which most other FPS have built from weather they know it or not. Quake is the 69' Camaro of games and you guys cant sell this stripped down beast of pure muscle and adrenaline ? what the fu..? how do you all still have jobs?
Maybe its time to reexamine the roots and what got ya there. give us back skinning, modding, mapping options for free.. give ppl who aren't world beaters something to do when the one server that's up has 8 pro's in it. yea... 8. not 10 or 12 like a proper ffa. That head scratching move to a more duel like ffa environment directly conflicts with the newest head scratching move: adding load outs in ffa to make things easier. The lack of direction and consistency is disappointing but the willful ignorance reguarding major issues bringing down the game just leaves me bitter.
I'm sure sync and sponge and whoever else are good people and its nothing personal... but man you guys are asleep at the wheel and we hit a tree like a week ago.
