the flawless sensor list doesn't take into account smoothing

i guess the higher dpi settings that exceed the realistic limit of the sensor are interpolated and smoothed out to avoid skipping.

What is this smoothing all about, I've never heard of it apart from the context of angle snapping.

I'm not even sure myself, but I think it's kind of like interpolation where rather than sending crude readings as fast as possible, it waits a bit to get enough data. I can imagine this being relevant for highly sensitive sensors. If it registered a tiny unintentional movement (table shaking, etc) without any processing, it would just move the cursor a whole pixel. Of course, real men don't use ridiculously high DPI's, so we'd have no need for it.

you can't flick as easily with mice that have heavy smoothing because it takes time to process the movement

isnt smoothing only when using over 2000dpi? or did i get that memo wrong?

Didn't believe in it at all until I went back to using Kana V2 when my G100s broke.

Feels disgusting. Actually gone back to using a g100s with broken left click because the movement feels so much better.

Comparing the two side by side is actually a huge difference.

Used Kana V2 for 3-4 months, didn't like shape, bought G100s

Use G100s for 2 months
->
G100s mouse button started going wrong.
->
switched back to Kana V2. Feels smoothed and horribly unresponsive.
->
switched back to G100s with broken button, because it's still way better and feels way more responsive

g400s definitely has a different feeling than my mx500 had, but i attributed it to 1000hz, since going to 500hz on mx500 had same weird smooth effect originally. As for smoothing to be a problem, isnt it only when it delays movement, as in heavy filtering?

A google search for g400s smoothing you can find ppl who ask the same question, but it's hard to find ppl whine about it's feel, which makes me conclude that it's not at all as bad on logitech products as some certain others.
