It's almost impossible to find a decent CRT these days.
Plus shitty image quality and small screen.
I don't wanna use it strictly for gaming.

Feel free to convince me of the opposite and link me to a good CRT offer tho ;)

I picked this up for $170 on craigslist, it caps out at 160hz @ 800x600
Also goes 2048x1536 with lower rates if you arent playing anything.

Its really not difficult, just look through craigslist every day, I found this the second day.

Better image quality, better colors, better refresh rates, practically zero input lag, 1/15th of the price.

It's just one site, a local stuff, I didn't bother to look further. But the basic thing is, you can find anything if you are willing to find it.

It may be different in Germany, but here in the US I can drive a few blocks to my local thrift store and I've got a pretty good selection of 20 for $7 without cable, $10 with.

That is just bs, even more so when considering you are german. It all depends on the effort you are willing to put into it. Even without effort it just takes a bit of lurking on ebay and its market place. Bought both, a Sony FW900 and an iiyama Vision Master Pro 514 on ebay. The latter was only 35 euro including delivery. Both monitors are pretty much considered the best CRTs.

FW900s are a bit harder to get but iiyama vision masters 451, 454 and 514 pop up every now and then. These suckers can do 200Hz (454 and 514) and have amazing black levels.

Both are 80 euro shipping but if you get them for 20, I'd say around 100 total is a really good price.

I have a Asus VG248QE (144hz) that I got on sale for around $230, I highly recommend, hard to beat the bang for buck you get with this monitor.

I also have a VX2268WM (120hz) that I got a few years ago, it's great for a cheap 120hz monitor, but it's only 22 inch and only 1680x1050.

did you see an improvement from the vx2268wm? i have the vx2268wm and wondering if I should upgrade.

The difference in refresh rate and input lag was not night and day like it was going from 60hz to 120hz, but it was noticeable.

I really like the increase in size and resolution, and lightboost is pretty cool.

I would recommend the same monitor, but you have to keep in mind that you paid $230 USD not 230€ EUR. It costs ≈290€ and that doesn't include import fees, etc. The Asus VS248H is only ≈150€. Here are some other recommended 144Hz monitors, including the BenQ XL2411Z you originally posted about.

I have that monitor you linked and it's great when you've configured it.

How do you configure it? Isn't it just Blur reduction off?

Ok, so I just bought a Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 (for 1€ xD) and will pick it up today or tomorrow.
I'll report back then if I changed my mind on CRTs ;)

Naw, the monitor ain't something to go budget on. They'll last you 10+ years. Get yourself a nice BenQ.

I managed to pick up a Samsung 2233 120hz off ebay delivered for 54.00 gbp and its a great monitor on a budget.

I used one back in the late Quake 3 and all of my Quake 4 time.
It did 120hz at 800 x 600 so it worked for my purpose.
(i had it set on 120hz anyway, it can do more)

I would not dream of using one nowadays though.
