I just bought a mizar, same shape but with laser sensor (yeah i know optical forever, but i never had a laser mouse and was very curious by this time). Very comfortable. And the side buttons are also placed very well for me, no accidental clicks.

Software is also good angle snapping can be toggled leds can be turned off etc. I imagine the same features are available for the alcor as well.

The mizar is at a great price for a laser mouse.

Got it recently, used a A4Tech X710 previously (and still using it with laptop). The plastic is kind of "dry", no rubber coating, so it's bit more slippery than forementioned A4Tech. Due to that I had to switch from my "3 fingers on top" grip to just 2. The rubber side pads of Mizar would be useful on Alcor for me, pity that they are only on Mizar.
Didn't disassembly it yet, anyone knows if there's removable weight inside, as in case of some mice, such as this?

it's already about the lightest ergonomical shaped mouse there is.

it's very worth the money imo.

compared to a Zowie EC2 evo:

pros:
-lighter
-better cable(it's more flexible and seems to be better connected with the actual core; same thickness)
-thicker and harder mousefeet
-very good feeling omron switches, with alot less overtravel mainbuttons
-traditional mousewheel with 24 steps(they even used an ALPS encoder instead of the usual TTC ones)
-higher LOD for supposed better surface compatibility, but still very low(barely tracks on height of 1 CD) with "tape-trick" on a black mousemat
-DPI-buttons on top


coating is about the same(while also the sidebuttons are coated on the alcor) and in reality the Alcor looks much better than on the official pics.

cons:
-about 0.3m/s lower maxtracking speed(~3.2m/s@1600dpi@1000hz@fw.101@qck heavy)
-too hard to press mouse3 for my taste
-no software at all, so i can't bind useful functions on the DPI-buttons

depends on personal preference:
-shape

-4 small mousefeet instead of 2 big ones

FYI:
-firmware v2 and v3, even if they have a much lower LOD and a 400DPI step, feel like crap regarding "smoothing"
-CM storm plans to bring out a alcor v2, with sidegrips of the mizar and a pwm-3310 sensor, but that's actually not confirmed yet.

I actually switched to v3 firmware and noticed the lower LOD, are you sure about that smoothing? Might consider switching back.

the zowie was alright as well, but nearly double the price, and my right click was broken(double clicking after couple of months), the custom LOD was also a little low for my taste on my shidenkai pad.
well, your comparison is pretty much spot on, not much else to say.

I tried the 2/3 firmwares and looked for 'smoothing' but couldn't notice anything wrong tbh. using 1.0 firmware regardless, 800dpi
feels precise and responsive

also I normally use small circle shape hyperglide feet, but this time I think I'll leave the stock ones on, seems they're quite good.

no software is a pro to me. also my zowie ec1 evo cl has tracking issues due to dust inside the mouse and/or slightly scratched lens. max tracking speed is between 1 and 2 m/s =/

that sounds more like it's seriously defective, when you only reach such low m/s(which happend to a few ppl already, one of them showed how the orange resonator inside the mouse was broken physically).

you can only test if it reaches the supposed m/s.
if it's far away from at least 3m/s on a qck for example, then it's very broken. :(

yeah it doesnt do 3m/s anymore. also its kind of random. sometimes it does 1m/s and sometimes it does 2m/s. completely unreliable for quake.

edit; tbh, its the dust in the sensor chamber. i dont think the hardware is screwed. just have to blow in it and hope the dust settles anywhere but in that little lens/sensor area :>

Anyone taken it apart yet? Wondering if you could make it any lighter with a dremel. I've found this to be the perfect fingertip mouse for me (yeah, I know), but it feels a bit back heavy when my palm doesn't touch it.

Im a owner of the alcor too since 3 hours. Feels great, the tracking is so much better compared to my old sensei, itīs like day and night. Really some quality mouse. At least as good as zowie products.

Im curious with the Firmware, just tried to update it. But everytime i click ok on the update window there pops up a box saying in green letters "no mouse". Am I doing smth wrong?

that shouldn't happen when u try to update the firmware, but will happen anyways when you try to downgrade to an older than the most actual firmwares.
for example, when the mouse has already Alcor FW V2.2.1, and you try to install firmware 2.0.0 or something.

Hehe, not even about worked. I figured out what the problem was, had to start the updater via adminmode. And you're definility right, the smoothing is there. When i upgraded it to a newer firmware than 1.2, the cursor felt weird. It felt a bit like the the Xai. Lift off distance was lower though. It's really a shame theres no firmware with less lift off distance and normal tracking.
Anyway the mouse is great, accuracy is raising:) If anyone wants some comparrisonphotos to ie 3.0 or sensei, wmo intelli, Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, just let me know.

Didn't they flop the alcor? That's why it's not in the US yet.
