Its not a good sign that the queklive.com site and the gameservers are all on one server. Seems like they realy got no recources left for the game :/

had a look at Steam charts QL Chart

QL has been down for the entirety of the last hour.
But Steamcharts still reports 162 "playing"

This leads me to conclude that this tool doesn't actually report on # of Steam Players in a QL game, but rather "Number of Steamies who have the QL app running"

So the stats reported are a little inflated:

- Includes people who leave the App running in the background, instead of closing it
- Possibly includes people who start the App, but don't find a game and close it again.

Their tool can't tell the difference.

It's probably watching how many connections there is towards the main quakelive-server and not who actually is connected to it.

No. Even if the main QL server was down it would report some players. It works exactly the same way it does with any other steamapp, including single player games which don't have such "main server".

You can take my posting of the image in imo two ways.

One is just being 'ESR-esque', that is posting something random, eccentric, or overly irritated and/or sarcastic in response to a fairly mundane post when there isn't really anything constructive to be said. We were pretty much confined to 'it's down for me too' or 'now it's up' here, and that's frankly boring.

The other way you could take it which is definitely more hostile and less playful is partly explained from the description on her blog:

"The gun, the potential shot, the erect penis, the hole that is essential to every woman, animal passion, both man and women smiling, - this is all very sexual imagery."

..which in a way is to say we're being 'fucked' by QL, as paying subscribers can't make use of their subscription when the game is down.

The first one was my real motivation, but multiple perspectives are one of the things that makes art great.

Today's hack of all QuakeLive servers worldwide has allegedgly been caused by a QuakeLive player called 'Kim Jong_un' being perforated via tele exit by Peter Perforator on lolca dm20.

I reinstalled the d@mn Windoze because at the same time my Origin-Client died on my primary machine. It's a poor weekend when there is bad weather outside and there is no QL or BF3/BF4 available.

Now I saw that this was useless ... *rofl*

Why did these guys remove Linux-support? Playing Q3A on my LinuxBox ... that works (as always).

I got ql running on my Linux laptop. *shrugs*

Tried it also using wine, but the frameskipping is horrible.

I've been using (and publishing) similar script previously, but it's pretty useless.

That's because you don't need any of that shit if you only disable in-game AJAX (see below).

It doesn't, can't and won't fix any other problem (1. constant micro-lags, 2. bad mouse input, 3. idle loop, 4. etc.).

2. I think wine-compholio has a little less lags (like the constant skips that went to 30 ms are like up to 16 ms now)

3. WINE doesn't do raw input so even with above fixes we're still in a disadvantage.
