I personally called them ''steam vegetables'' and the players who constantly play Clan Arena were kicking them out of servers about.... 10 per a warmup, because at some point they were literally raining into servers. Most of them didn't even strafe, jump, switch weapons or were simply configuring options, some seemingly running around with arrows admiring the map amongst veterans who have 1.5k+ games.

It's just a ridiculous failure due to the lack of proper matchmaking, in any case the experience for the player is ruined, so I didn't bother to act like I care.

Why don't you direct them where to go? If someone like the players you mention join our servers. I usually direct them to play FFA to get their skill up a bit more, plus they will enjoy it more anyway. If they ignore that, we usually kick them.

Not sure about you, but for me, I want to continue playing QL for a few more years. If new players have a shitty experience the first time they join, there's a good chance they will never play again. We need to keep breeding new players because the old players are dying out.

Sure, you can blame ID for the shitty matchmaking. But that doesn't help the growth of QL.

I wanted my server to be available for all player skills but I'll always allow midgame voting so people can have a choice. Kicks happen all the time and sometimes it's some afk and other times it's a new player who can't compete. Democracy is a bitch I guess.

Oh right, Ytrium was like "this guy must be 1800, i'll make a new server, I will kick anyone thats 1800+" This didn't only happen once, but twice to me on two different accounts which is funny. What a prick! The guy isn't even good at quake, he should host a server and stay as spectator and shut his mouth honestly and let me do my work. Fortunately, id_ thinks all current quakeplayers are bums so he's not doing anything about admin abuse and oh, for example nudeus a 32 year old unemployed bum who gets his powerrush on quakelive.

But this is what I have to work with. I wouldn't want to host a server since that's not my occupation. I'm just amazed how there aren't more decent server hosts in this game. Quakelive is dying and they perpetuate the death of quakelive by abusing admin power and denying new players the opportunity to enjoy what was once a beautiful game which was our heart and soul.. Good use of a $20 dollar pro membership purchase.

Yeah, it's not surprising to see someone with 2000 elo and still play like shit because their entire strategy involves baiting and hiding. for example such player would be BornKilla, Excalibur and many more. Their strat is to bait and wait til enemies are low HP and then chase with 200 HP with 30-40 LG proficiency. The real good players are not within the 1500-2200 range. The real good ones have 2400-2700. Those are the talented ones. If you watch replays of someone with 2000 elo, you'd notice that they have poor positional understanding. They'd be at bad spot with wrong weapon choice. They feel like they have good rail so they rail when they could easily rocket. When you see something like that and they're 2000 elo, you'd question "are they really 2000 elo?"

CA elo is meaningless since it doesn't even count 1v1 or 2v2's.

Why should it? 1vs1 is totally different from standard CA. 2vs2 I could understand maybe since there is teamplay involved even though it's a bit different from higher team sizes.

Have any of you actually played in a ELO shuffled server? Shuffle by ELO has way more competitive games than regular shuffle.

If you ban all the aliases and the steamers ELO is VERY effective.

west coast basically comprises a niche of the same people who played together over and over and think they're gods of the game. But they don't realize that people don't need to play quake. No competition, no incentive. So most of the players are probably in their forties. Oh wait, this also applies to the east coast.
