-720p (would be fine if it was 60 fps, but 1080p would still be better, especially considering it's almost 2015 and even youtube supports 1080p60 now)
-30 fps
-bitrate (you use 320 kbps aac for audio but not the 6000 kbps or so you need to make the video look close to lossless? motion clarity suffers because of the compression artifacts your low bitrate incurs. cooller 2010 is 10000 kbps 720p 60 fps for reference vs your 4000 kbps)
-frame resample = massive ugly ass ghosting. don't know if you used this on purpose or not, but if you did, you should've used wolfcam and wolfcam only for proper motion blur. frame resample should never be used.
-screen jelly
-screen recoil

should've also been a lot shorter. less is more. no comment on frags cause i can't be assed to watch a 12 minute frag video.

6/10 from what i saw. +5 by virtue of being a quake video, +1 for everything else.

p good for first effort. its not easy to make 3rd person cams look good but you managed. artwork was clever but a little overdone. outro was too long but the music fit the theme. solid 7

Loved it, this is what I'm looking for in movies - a theme or a motive behind it. Not just frags plastered with electronic music, some sort of an underlying story which connects the frags together.

The atmosphere was great, Egyptian ZTN should be mandatory in the next QL update.

All in all this is a movie that I predict will be talked about years after it's release. Instant classic, mad props to mele for putting this shit together o/

the editing was pretty good, as were a lot of the frags you put into the video. i guess i'm the only one disappointed by the lack of lg usage though...

Really enjoyed this movie, the egyptian and gladiator artwork was tastefully integrated at good points. My favourite and funniest frag was the rocket shot on Purgatory, the scene was really well choreographed, I love how the rocket passed the painting on the wall and how it hit the guy at the end.

Only critique? Mega high percentage of noob opponents had me questioning the skill of the frags I was seeing. Couple of good players thrown in at decent times like Noctis etc.

Alright I can proudly say I watched all 12 minutes :

- CFG was pretty bad (can't see shit with damage on)
- Color correction was too much
- Frags were ok
- No editing (frags on epic violin, no transitions, very little sync, some cams which you didn't master at all : they go straight in one direction)

Yeah, initially although the ideas I always had floating around were for a "srs" movie, I also intended to make a lulzy movie afterwards (I actually have an entire folder with all the funny shit I came across when going through the demos), but I just do not have the energy or time to do that now... this movie drained me so much. I know you're not the only one who is going to be disappointed after associating me with lulz and potatz but there you go :D maybe some day I'll put it all together ulbe style. maybe never.

Loved the concept, though I think showing the paintings wasnt really necessary. Some frags were not really special but I dont care ...

I enjoyed the stills in the first part the most (the super slow-mo quake one's, though the paintings were a cute touch as well). Beautiful. Movie was a little too long, but enjoyable.

I liked the first part because I thought the concept was interesting and fresh. The title, the music and the artwork all contributed to create a unique atmosphere, which I found original and cool. Quake Live graphics do not fit that theme necessarily, but the concept of gladiators is a match. I really liked the pace of this part, and the use of slowmo capturing a moment in a gladiator's life.

I was not so convinced when it switched to the Egyptian theme. Partly because of the jump to a different historical context not necessarily fitting (I know romans and egyptian had their fair amount of interaction, but the jump from gladiators to that felt a bit forced), partly because the music style/instruments changed drastically, and because it reused the same concept of artwork mixed, which to watered it a bit down.

Overall, great work, inspiring, and well made. I loved the gazilion rocket and gauntlet frags, really worked for me with the first song. Btw, this made me think of a frag movie where the maps are re-decorated to fit the theme.

only 9/10 cause not all the frags are movie worthy, and maybe would have been a good idea to use a more sepia style color correction. i recommend making shorter movies cause the esr children fall asleep after 5 minutes.

Wasn't fond of the music or the picture scheme or the config or the 3 minute end credits and some of the frags were average but! - there were lots of really good frags and for me, that's the most important thing in a movie like this. For the good frags alone - 7.5/10 :)

I watched whilst on the toilet this morning, harosh lyfstyle requires quake movies, coffee and a good shit in the morning (standard breakfast of chempeons) so I vote 9/10.

Would have been 10/10 but coffee had too much milk.

The theme, the slow mo's, the blood & gore from quake mixed with the blood & gore of the gladiator scenes gave the movie a real sense of power and gladiator spirit - loved it.

I like the artwork overall but preferred the 1st bits with the gladiator style art.

I liked that, it had a theme, which was excecuted somewhat well, also some nice airrox, but tbh half of the frags, wasnt close to movie material. There were 2 frags, where u killed me and Khan with 12 SG shots, half of them weren't even hit the target. I mean... really?:D

Great movie.

Pros:
-Original idea regarding the use of themes, music, artwork, etc. Nice experiment.
-Great music.
-Some of the slomo/stills were quite well composed and looked good. Subject placement and such were a little bit reminiscent of the paintings used in the movie, great job :D
-Some thoughtful editing / syncing in places. Not sure whether it was intentional, but it's there
-The high fov gives it a bit of an oldschool feel, I like it

Cons:
-Many frags were somewhat mediocre
-Some continuity would be nice - like seeing a longer fragment of a game, like a comeback of a few frags or something, or a few clutch frags with low hp. Quick cuts between frags make for good pacing, but bad tension
-Having less frags would allow for some better transitions, like the popular rj / teleport cuts
-Movie ended kind of suddenly - again, continuity.
-Long-ass credits, but I can see why they're there - gives equal credit and respect to everything involved in the making of the movie. People who don't wanna see it can just close the video, so they have a choice.

Overall: 10/10 coz of heartfelt message to quakers at the end <3

Nice Mele, good idea and great sync. Some mediocre frags that makes the movie too long tho, quality could be better.

quickly skimmed through - loved the music and the presentation, it's unique and cool. Frags however were average. Consider making a shorter movie if you don't have too much material & you're inexperienced in this sort of thing.

Loved the music, rockets and especially the effort to make a themed movie. Kinda confused what egyptian stuff has to do with Romantic paintings though as Memento already pointed out.
Still a great movie, definitely stands out in the from the endless rows of alternative 'rock'/electronic musically themed works.

Great editing, solid theme in the first half (great music!), although some of the paintings "inserts" were a bit forced. The music and theme in the second half didn't work as well for me, but the transitions were much better. Outro was a bit... long.

Anyways, I enjoyed it a lot and I think you did manage to make something new and different in terms of frag movies. :)

Watched it last week and was writing a review which included a ten minute soliloquy of my thoughts during the movie while watching it for the first time (along with joint breaks).

But upon further inspection, it's nowhere to be found. I guess I got side-tracked, then Firefox crashed, then a week passed, then I ran out of weed, and now holiday is over.

nice effort one of those 3rd cam rockets took like a whole min to show it had like 3 or 4 diff angles to show but maybe find a way to cut that down. a lot of mediocre frags. was a cool view at beginning with flag waving in the wind.

It seemed like a good idea at the time... couldn't think of a better way to sync to the music, but looking back it would have certainly been improved with some better camera skillz.

Still, I think it's ok if you're not in a hurry.

I think it's not aaaas much about frags than about the whole thing. Editing + Music are where it's at for me personally and the film is def. doing it for me. Total epic ride.
