Google's name servers are already updated.
So instead of changing the "hosts" file, you can set your nameserv IP addresses to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 / 4.2.2.2 / 4.2.2.1

If your ISP's name server still returns the old IPs and you don't want to switch to Google's DNS servers, you can add this to your hosts file:
50.23.229.125 secure.quakelive.com

If you do, remove it after a few days to prevent future issues when they change the IP.

Ugh I hate to do this, but I've tried everything above and I can't log in. It says something about not being able to connect to the server. Heeeeelp meeeee. :( I've tried both steam and standalone.
