I don't really care about quake, this is normal practical procedure for every game that I dislike. You're seeing a very tiny number of all the infractions I've done to the policy. I'm a violator of all policies as a result. I purposely got myself banned from quakelive and it worked stupendously. Now I have one less distraction in my life and closer to the money. You see, i'm a man who has the money and i know how to work to achieve goals. Quakelive isn't very conducive to me achieving my goals, so I had to let it go and sometimes that means getting yourself permanently banned. You see, I don't have very much time playing video games, I mean, I already have great games on the line up, bf4, hardline. I mean, why would I spend all my time on quakelive when there's barely anymore spark? The update was trash, the people are trash, and everytime you play quake, you're basically just beating trashy criminals who smoke pot everyday. Do you really associate to such scums of society? The funny thing about people who uses imgur images on the internet is that they couldn't come up with their own way to get the idea across so they find some random image on the internet and decides to use that as their value as a contributor but in reality, they aren't creative at all. I was streaming some CA yesterday and had like 6 or 7 viewers. I've only really been streaming for like a week so my stream is pretty unknown. I also mumble, run my words together in a southern American accent, and am not entertaining at all.

If a well spoken, entertaining individual can't get a decent amount of viewers streaming QL, then they just aren't trying. So I guess the reason you don't see it on Twitch is because no one really wants to stream it.

OH! And it's probably also because QL is difficult to stream. For example, if I just don't do anything and let the map change, QL crashes. If I have two scenes for QL in OBS, bind hotkeys to them — let's just say hotkeys 1 and 2 — and spam them... 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2... while the map is changing, it works! If Zoot didn't tell me about this, I wouldn't be able to stream QL at all.

So in summary... lack of interest from streamers and lack of interest from id Software. I think the viewers are there.

my stream doesn't crash during map change, are you using game source? try using monitor capture and shiftwindow with the resolution set to 1 more on the x and y than what youre using.

ex: ingame res is 1920 x 1080, put 1921 x 1081 and use the programs keyboard hotkey feature to enable it once you've gone fullscreen

It shouldn't crash for sure, but there is a bug where it loses the stream from the game and gets stuck at 'awaiting connection' every single map change.
toggling from windowed mode and back fixes it.

OBS Suite / Multiplatform has an OpenGL renderer option that doesn't have the problem at all, but that is currently at 0.83 beta and is missing some key features like push to talk.

It crashes when I'm using both game and monitor capture, and I'm not the only one. I'll try this shiftwindow business, though.

Faceit tried to stream quake and if they had >3k viewers during a sunday cup that was a lot (except during lans, then >8k was a lot). Now they stream CS with pretty much the same production value and >80k people are watching more or less constantly. It IS the game on display that makes the difference, and I don’t think this changes on a individual-streamer level.
I just checked: There are three QL streams right now and none of them has double digit viewership numbers. flair is one of them, and that’s a pretty good and entertaining stream to watch. 7 viewers. Whereas there are like 15 CS streams with viewership numbers ranging from 10 to 1,1k, the vast majority of them having more than a hundred viewers.
When fazz streams, he sometimes gets more than a few hundred viewers. But that’s not a lot when you consider that his stream is probably the best stream an individual player can do.

Faceit is the only stream, unfortunately, the commentators are criminal-looking autists, especially that guy with a bad hairdo.

Not to feed troll, but part of the attraction for specs is enjoying the game WITH the streamer. I know that sounds like semantics but what I mean is that streamer has to engage audience. Quake has almost no downtime during matches (except for CA) so player is usually too focused on game to read comments or talk about the game.

Quake just doesn't stream well without dedicated commentators. Unlike CSGO and LoL which have some moments for streamer to interact with spectators.

You'll be surprised how many of us chat shit whilst playing, enjoy chatting to the viewers. Music suggestions and all the other things that go with it.

Plus everyone likes the rage. q:D
