Looks rather uninspiring. Seen that art style in a hundred different games and movies. The HUD and player bob are deal breakers for me unless they can be disabled. Had more than enough of that crap in FEAR 2.
a) quake needs to be colorful; especially a bright green fat enemy model. And who doesnt love those green maps, those blue maps, red maps. Not some semi realistic grey and brown crap all along.
b) the day quake (or any arena fps) installs a crappy fucking horrible "aim stance" like in freaking COD and such, I will burn a goat alive while eating vomit. This killed fps for me, plain and simple. Pressing a button to put your gun in front of you before you can fire (standing more or less still) is just absurd, is so slow and tedious. I HATE that
While you're at it, why not a "sprint" button, where you can sprint but not fire at the same time (cries of burning babies in the background) ? Oh and no health as well, auto regen...
Yes that's brilliant ! my dream would be a lighting gun with clips. Ammo clips requiring to reload after 50 cells ahahahahahah
He was probably thinking more of the visual fidelity as gameplay dynamics. But I agree with you quake should stay an arcade game, without stances, reloading and all the other fancy stuff - it should be an arena shooter, colorful and clean so you can distinguish everything at a glance.
That said, for the single player part (if there is one), maybe more gameplay substance and dynamics would be nice. I though Quake 4 sp was quite enjoyable for that time, and if I remember right it was completely different from the multiplayer part.
That said, I hope they just focus on another multiplayer only game, like Quake 3, so they can focus 100% on that without distractions from the sp part.
With ridiculous graphical improvement comes an entire community whining about shit fps and horrible mouse input. I hope for those kind of graphics, but only because I'm fortunate to have a high spec gaming PC.
Star Citizen looks 'cool' though, bought into the stupid pricing model a few months ago. I mean, you have to pay for alpha access to the different models, flight, fps, etc etc etc. It's like your typical 2015 alpha game and model but on steroids.
Star Citizen uses the CryEnginge. id hired the CE lead R&D guy. He is working on tech6 now for Doom4. So it wont be unlikely that it will look like that. I hope they wont screw up input though.
