Remove the 12th pin of your vga cable and it will have the ability to utilize 120+Hz on Windows 7/8. You will need to use custom resolutions if you want more than 120Hz, which you can change through your gpu control panel. I can vouch for this method since I got my LaCie 22 electron iv running at 160Hz on 8x6 on my Windows 8.1 laptop

I'm pretty sure you don't need to thinker with the pins if you have a Nvidia GPU, a simple custom resolution is enough.

You can just change it in your video card drivers, i.e. create custom resolution.

I have nvidia optimus so don't have that option in my nvidia settings.

Windows 7 is better, also changing hz is supported in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.
