That was more of a joke. Of course they can not ban a mod since it is not a commercial product and is not a part of the actual game.
What I meant was that the original Doom was banned almost immediately after its release for the brutality displayed in it back in the day. Just one year (or maybe two not sure anymore) ago it was finally taken off the "Index" after over 20 years on there and if the game would be officially updated into what this mode makes of it it would land directly on it again :D.
No the "Indizierung" still exists as a method for the government over here to ban material they deem especially dangerous from being sold openly in stores.
However the German "Index" is not a complete "black list" in a sense that the items on it can not be sold, gifted, etc. (there are only very few items that would fall under that category here one of them being Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf") the items on the Index just are not allowed to be advertised in public and sold openly in stores. A 18 year old can still go into pretty much any store over here and ask the staff if they have the item up for sale and then can proceed to buy it.
this is not what I meant, I meant that the barrier for getting a game on the index because of its brutality is not anymore as low as it was once,
many brutal games nowadays would have probably gotten on the index 10-15 years ago.
me too, I had brutal doom among the mods on my server for years when it was introduced. Combine it with chillax, and you will know server side CPU lag at its finest ;)
It changes graphics and also gameplay as well a little, it makes Doom look and feel more "brutal". It's best if you combine it with other mods and custom maps perhaps.
I agree. While BD breaks the fast flow of the original game indeed, it does it in a fun way. It's not a mod what you would keep turned on all the times, but it's great to spice up things from time to time.
