It's a familiar design with a much more user friendly interface, uploading images, setting up news posts and so on are far more intuitive. BBcode support isn't bad either since we're in 2015 or so

i like that plusforward is for all game. esr is just quake.

I find the interface pretty unclear, unintuitive, and "heavy"; i'd prefer something lighter, simpler; maybe that's just me, but i think esr's main strenght point is exactly this: text heavy, simple layout, not a ton of curtains menu.

I agree. The main strength of ESR for me is that I can get everything already from the front page and the page feels alive because of the different types of user content instantly presented to me. On PF there is so much stuff on front page I don't really care about when I check the site. IMO latest/forum activity should be integrated there instead of lifeless lists of "who is going to play who" and a calendar (I'm not saying they shouldn't be there, just not the main focus). Community sites start from interactions between community members, which should be in the spotlight.

Also news and first posts could be separated better from each other/rest of the site.

I also dislike all the automatic menu stuff and things moving when I didn't do anything specific.

This is typically one of those things that "look cool" and "webmasters" love but are just annoying to use.

ESR is something like Clanbase was when it was still around. Outdated design most would say, yet so simple and easy to get around it can last forever.

Yea it uses the same code as the forum layout, when browsing the recruitment posts. It has more scripts and stuff when you register a new team search, that the forum posts don't have, so it would not be quite that simple.

And this is ESR, the page will probably look the same in another 10 years ahead.

ESR still works on my 32kbit line plus it scales nicely on a wide screen without bs spaces. Would be awesome if you could offer a "minimal" theme for those of us who are stuck in the past.

I like the idea of having a new site that covers fresh fps games. But if you are going to have mainly QL and Reflex content I do not see much reason to use that site in addition to ESR.

Maybe here's an idea: a page / section dedicated to learning how to play / improving at quake. This page would basically be an archive of all video's ever made on improving at quake (for example Rapha's dm6 analysis at IEM studios, twister's analysis videos, vods of strenx going over maps). Also there could be links to articles that people wrote on this subject, a Memento_Mori article comes to mind.

There's a lot of stuff like this and tutorials floating around twitch and youtube, but I don't think it has ever been archived and catagorized (beginner, advanced catagories come to mind, or perhaps tactical / movement catagories).

I think it would be good for both the community and attracting people to your site.

dont see the point myself, esr covers quake, and lets be honest, the people here on esr care about quake, until another skillful fps comes about.

Better off advertising that site on some console/casual forums where they might be more interested in the cods/halos etc.
