I've heard there will be a pretty big update after QCon.
Well, my suggestion is that you add the same timers we see during spec, to newbie ranked people, and low medium, then after that it's time to man up and put your timing skills into use without timers.
This way, everyone that is new to the game will realize the importance of timing, will be aware that timing is a thing. When I started ages ago I never paid attention to it, if I would have had GUI timers when I started, I would have realized how it's a key point. What we have now where the item shows how many 5 second are left are also helpful for newbs.
This is the correct way to do it, not inforcing it into everyone and ruining the game. A standard needs to be set, where medium+ players should be able to play each other ranked without timers at that point. I say medium and not high, because you need to start playing without timers as soon as you are decent to not train under a fake scenareo and to avoid getting used to it too much to the point is counterproductive once you play a real match once you are good enough. I repeat that this should be just to aware clueless people that timing is a thing, not an actual way to play the game.
