so basically the tl;dr is that it's a bunch of american hasbeen CTF guys who play like 1 week out of the year scrambling and rearranging their teams a couple weeks before the event. nothing to see, really

Everyone is usually pretty nice to each other in person, but I feel like tensions will be a bit higher this year. Expect some shit talking while teams are playing :)

Well sparks isn't going as far as I know so the only tenison would be between zer04 and br1ck and br1ck won't say anything to John's face. Pretty much even players who dislike eachother are alway civil @ events and it's usually just generally awkward as they pretend nothing was ever said.

There's been a lot more changes than that. Whaz for one, which seemed to leave Z4's team in limbo for a while.

NA teams dominance in qcon for CTF is largely exaggerated. Most of the time EU sends a mix bag of players who due to financial reasons fly over the day before and are often jet legged/drunk for the actual event. In prior years such teams as fnatic who most weren't CTF players let alone a real CTF team came from a cap or two from winning it all. Last year how many OT games were there? Any of the top 3 teams could've won there was no real stand out among the them. Let's also point out the fact that EU usually sends one or two teams vs 6-8 from NA.

This year I would be shocked if NA wins CTF becuase of the lack of preparation between the top two NA teams. All the while MD vs Avg have been playing eachother daily. Tox doesn't have the experience gerppa does but his aim on LAN is going to present major problems for opposing teams. When you take that into account with the fact that KGB has been BREAKS best or 2nd best player when they have been scrimming past few months and he'll be the 4th wheel when he goes from a crt monitor to the led 144hz monitors and his aim drops dramatically @qcon I don't see how BREAK is going to make up for that.

For the past month, Rapha's team been playing like 2 games a day avg, and Dahangs team is avg 1 game a day.

Dahang's team has incredible talent on it. KGB and Tox both play flag and KGB has way more ctf exp than Tox and legendary aim. His LAN aim isn't as great but you could still call that match up a wash IMO. Tox is becoming really great but I've been watching the practices and he still gets out of position sometimes. That's unavoible because he's only been playing a like a few months and never for money on a LAN. During those months he's become world class but still... what's it gonna be like with dahang, whaz and id_ attacking his items? MD is a good team and seem like great guys, but I wouldn't say they are favorites for CTF.

As for Rapha's team, with the addition of Psygib, they will be quite formidable and I wouldn't count them out at all. 1 month is plenty of time to get Psygib synced up with their style. Psygib played with rapha and clock last qcon and z4 is flag so it's shouldn't be too difficult.

Hype train has great talent but it's hard to tell how good they will do because so many of them have shitty connections and ping like unstable 70's during practices. So it's been hard for them to play for real. I'd say they are still gonna be pretty dangerous. I haven't watched them play since the psygib trade, but I know effortless can play flag so maybe they moved brick up to mid or o and that might work out for them.

Comparing KGB to Tox is just wrong on so many levels. Even online Tox's aim and playstyle is superior. Tox was playing CTF/TDM when KGB was still playing FT in q3. Obviously Tox is mainly a duel player now but he looks pretty strong on flag D right now. KGB rail goes from 60-70s online to 40s and his lg drops into the mid 30s everyone knows this and its been the case the past 6-7 years and this year won't be any different. id_ has switched to a defensive role with the addition of whaz to the team but they often push 3's becuase KGB online is a wall on D and that will change.

That said you could pretty much put any of the other top 3 NA teams players in for KGB @qcon and BREAK would still be a lock for top 3 thats the kind of talent id_, dahang and whaz have.

IDK man, I remember watching a game about a couple weeks ago vs AVG on Spider from his fov and he was making all sorts of mistakes.

But the game before that he had a near perfect game. So I had the impression he's still learning and that's why he's inconsistent. Or maybe he was just messing around that one game. But I think I remember a couple other games where I was speccing him and stuff even I would know, he would miss. Not saying I'm better than him, he's been far beyond my skill level since like the first day :).

you have no idea what tox is capable of, please don't compare him to scrubs like kgb.

tox has been above everyone else in europe for a good 15 years in terms of aim, he's the most consistent team player i've ever seen all the while making it seem like he carrys players like fox/gopher/linkin/stermy on a regular basis AND he destroyed everyone else in q4 duel.

All I can tell you is that I've seen games of him losing control of items, forgetting about his regen multiple times on spider. Doing the wrong thing when his flag was taken etc. As I've said I've also seen him play near perfect matches as well.

Teams like break are going to attack his base items and rush multiple people at once etc. they are going to put stress on him so if he makes any mistakes, they are likely to capitalize.

kgb has never, ever done on LAN what he does online. ever. he's good, yeah. but he's not the same player.

Should be mandatory to drop a tab of acid or 1-2 grams of cubensis before matches. Just enough to make everyone fucking happy and optimistic as shit, and still play alright ;) used to get in the zone on 1.5 g's or less. More and it was a total flop!

I wonder why kgb can't dial in settings to help train for lan. Like if his cfg settings manipulate netcode in his favor and his crt is such a step up from leds.. Why not just train a bit on different settings. He has the mouse control but it seems his muscle memory from online settings ruins his aim.

His whole game and skills is based around his aim and damage output to make up the the other areas he's weak in. You would figure he would atleast switch to led monitor once he starts preparing for an event like qcon to get used to it but he doesn't.

Haven't been following QL except for the occasional tox/cooller stream, and I have no clue about the american QL scene. Is KGB really that good of an aimer that people compare him to tox? That's not how I remember him from years ago during q3 times.

Online he has some of the best aim in NA, especially rail and lg. He's top ten in CA elo after all.

I've seen him post 45% lg and 75% rg in games. And he uses both weapons very heavily.

IDK, he does it on a regular basis the rare times he pops into pub servers. He basically uses only lg and rail and hardly ever dies against like 1600-2100's. A lot of pros can do something like that in pubs but watching him is a bit different. His aim and his stats are beyond normal for pro. VS other pros he probably spams more and the pros are better dodgers which brings his numbers down to like 40/65 lol.

he's using a CRT at home, whenever he comes to LAN he is always consistently worse than he is online because he relies on his aim too much. some people previously thought he was cheating, but sparks said on his stream it's just down to KGB's incredibly obscure setup and he can't recreate it in a LAN environment.

tox uses a benq xl2411z so there will be less of a transition for him going from home -> LAN. the only thing i'd be worried about is the playing room being too warm for his icemat, or the PC's running on windows 8.
