Putting a map with new color scheme 1 week before the tournament, Sync doesn't know how to run shit. I hope he got a lot of sponsor money with this. Also the mpa is not the same the hallways are bigger it changes the gameplay.
you mean Pro subscribers, or "Pro" quake players (sponsored)? Actually, doesn't matter which one you're talking about...nobody got the map with much lead time for Qcon.
Jesus christ, that's horrid. It looks like Q4. Im sure they managed to ruin it too and looks too bright when using r_mapoverbrightbits 5 just like they did with those new maps.

The reasonable: It's a known layout for a well known map, not huge surprises here, players shouldn't be struggling even if there's a few minor changes. It's a one-off competition map, something special for Qcon 2015. It won't hurt anyone in the long run.
I agree. I really dont know why everyone is super mad about this change. The textures are of course a bit distracting, but thats the case with almost all of the new duel maps. As for the hallways - it wont really affect gameplay to such an extent that it would be a completely different situation on the regular ZTN.
and lastly - the removal of ledges/etc. lol. Have you ever seen anyone using those ledges in an actual duel?
Have some class, you swiney gasbags. Intel just dropped $40k on QL, we should all be polite and thankful. I think it will be nice to have a different looking ztn for the tourney. Perhaps some constructive criticism would be a more appropriate response so whatever issues can be fixed in time.
The only fuckups that I'm referring to are ZTN Intel fuckups. Things that make the map less competitive and fuck up the international LAN that occurs in 3 days. Feel free to be bitter about everything else.
Side note: VAC, coming in the new update, should make aliasing/cheating in QL a little more annoying. Instead of needing a new email, you'll need a new email and steam account. Definitely not "on time," but at least it's happening.
right, why focus on something trivial like the ztn intel? in quakelives lifespan its a pretty minor fuckup, hardly worth mentioning in the grand scheme of things

It's a snarky comment, yes. I just thought it was funny. I did not expect everybody else to share this sentiment. Calling it acting like a douchebag though is a bit exaggerated I think.

They didn't do as good of a job with this map as they did with intel campgrounds. Why are there rusty metal fans spinning off-center on a high-tech computer-themed map?
it's a really old game...pretty much all QL fans are ugly, but don't take my word for it, there will be lots gathered together at Qcon in a few days :P

It's hardly an update.... You've got so many things to complain about concerning QL's current state and you pick a re-skinned map that will be played once in a single tournament.
I don't even play the game, I just want flashy maps, alright? I liked the Intel Campgrounds quite a bit. I'm not worse off now than I was before I knew this map existed, so it's not a problem.
What if there are other less obvious problems though? The concern is that, because of the last minute update, there might be small problems which players could choose to not report if it gives them an advantage.
Jesus fucking chirst. Only modern ID would be able to fuck up a classic map. Not only that, but the map looks BRIGHT as hell if you use the classic russian cfg settings or r_mapoverbrightbits 5 etc. I wonder how cooller and the ones that use a similar cfg will cope.
Which is why its stupid. The map would still look good if they used the same lighting as in the old maps that allow for r_mapoverbrightbits 5 usage. Both noobs and pros happy vs noobs happy while annoying pros.
I am sure the players investing time and money to play in that tournament for tousand of dolars, will be really happy to lose the match, because of funny moment/frag via a bug. :D
Intel getting map reskins is fine and deserved. It's hard to argue with 40'000$. Having a tournament outweighs having to play on this map I would say.
However, releasing a potentially broken map one week before the tournament = not that great.
The texture set is also not as fitting on ztn as it was on dm6 (prob because original dm6 is already quite cyberpunky and a brighter map in general), but who really cares about that.
IMO it would have been better to reuse campgrounds intel in the pool, and leaving ztn as it is. Intel gets his map, and campgrounds intel was much better received and polished. What if not next years, furious heights intel? sinister intel? o.O
zoot said it in his livestream also that team modes will improve with the new spec features like all team member health, a little graphic in ctf how far the flags r or at same distance in middle of the map 4 example like lore mode @ TF2
and easier switching 2 certain players i think like in CS GO
The grenade launcher ledge is partially invisible and you can rail through a massive portion of it.
On the standard ztn, I can plasma climb from grenade platform to shotgun, it's a pretty difficult little trick which adds a lot of style points. Now you can do it easily.
The hallways at mega feel wider, but it's more so the actual little pickup point seems bigger, either that or it's just the visual aesthetics that are fucking with my head.
It'd be nice if they added a feature where you can pick the style of how the map looks for you.
Example: I love tox and silence, awesome style and colour scheme. If I could apply that to ztn, dm6 and Cure it'd be so much;
