Realm Of Street Rats, Deep Inside and Intervention are terrible in QL because the layouts only work when the average rail/shaft accs are way lower as they were in OSP. To do anything relevant there you have to take lots of cess damage. Grim Dungeons still works because it addresses the whole weapon range better.

This could be fixed by updating the rooms a little by adding pillars/boxes/height changes here and there.

So true, especially regarding Realm of Steel Rats. The last time that was being actively played in QL, teams were literally putting 4 people on the ground level at LG all game, LG was almost all that mattered. The games were absolutely awful to play in or spectate.

I also think weapon drop is one of the reasons Deep Inside and Intervention are so bad now, it makes such a huge difference to how both are played compared to in Q3. Both also have layouts where key positions are so easy to defend, where you need to pretty much have serious disabilities to miss ANY shots when defending them.

There are ways to play Deep Inside out of control other than rushing Rail and getting slaughtered. QL needs more maps where positions mean something. Where blindly MG cessing does not guarantee the win as longs as you hit +5% more than your opponents. The reason why Quake TDM is so boring to watch is because of mindless maps like Hidden that encourage that type of random cess for 20 minutes. Fun to spec for 1min, then its zZz.

Maybe Deep isn't perfect for what we've got, but that it replaces Hidden is great.

it doesnt make dm20 mindless. it's the smallest map that played in tdm, and the only map thats got only 8 spawns, so ye. it meant to heavy rely on aim of players, but this is fps for you and it's not the only aspect of success on this map. map itself got distinct flow and can be played good even without heavy accs. there is no substitute of what dm20 can bring to the table and to judge the map as random aim fest is kinda childish and surfacesish, dunno.

We're talking about pre QL maps in QL. DM20 is shit and everyone knows it. Those maps I mentioned are shit, but people pretend they are not because of their nostalgic memories or lack of experience against one dimensional hit scan heavy teams.

I agree with cpm4, it was always flawed in QL, just like vor stated.

Intervention was playable though with two sides of the map being used to its extent with red side being more favorable, not sure why it was removed, whilst there weren't any better maps to replace it. But I don't mind the mappool HoQ picked for this season, that being said I don't know how Ragnarok is being played nor looks.

too small, too basic and lacks HP. way too hard to overcome a good hitting team with decision making and team play. every idiot can run around and hit there basically. it's like you have 3 guys cessing and then 1 guy lurking with weapons and feeding off his teamates' cess (IIRC that's how you played it) so it might be fun and interesting for that one guy, but in a team with balanced tactics it's just meh. the map seems to suit for late night pickups where it's fun, but still shit for comp play where both teams hit high accs.

if you want a map with lots of shooting then i'd pick ragnarok: you get much more interesting rooms to fight in, you can protect yourself from cess and you can have solid 3v3 team fights which any other map doesn't really have.

aint nothing wrong with deep inside, its a great map, which allows teams to play it in several ways successfully, unlike cessy fortress. good thing for tdm!
