FYI, you might want to listen to the BBC's "More Or Less (behind the stats)" show - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qshd - a very recent episode (the one titled about diabetes I think) examined how someone had come up with the 95% number.

It's certainly not a hard number, it is just a number that has been arbitrarily assigned by a panel of people after looking at all of the different risk factors (eg risk of burning down the house etc). There seems to be some scientific rigor to how they came up with it, but it's not a "trustworthy" probability.

A friend of mine got the exactly same e-cig and it's quite nice with adjustable voltage and all the different tastes you could only think of. But it's kinda silly to start smoking with the e-cig, I don't trust at all the sources state they're harm free, I've watched some documentary on TV and it was said e-cigarettes are far from being harm free as a matter of fact there's still a lot of side-effects we're yet to see just give it some time.

I'm also using the i'stick 40. Together with two Nautilus mini's and two kangertech subtanks. I tried many e-cigs and i thing the nautilus is perfect for a cigarette replacement. (with BVC coils) With temperture control you'll inhale even less doubtful stuffs. But yea we don't know for sure how it's gona be on the long run.

i use the kanger aerotank 2, for now with evod/protank single coils which i will rebuild once my japanese cotton arrives. :)

Kangertech evod coils have serious quality issues. Every unit vapes different. People on amazon say there are usually 2 out of 5 which do ok. Some work for 2 days, or are broken out of the box. Doesnt matter which version. I tried the newer ones v2 or v3 and they just don't produce as many vape (the ones that look like this)
wheres kangertech subtank coils and nautilus BVC all perform exactly the same. No dry hits etc. (esspacially not with the ni200 coils in therory, but i always have the same taste and airflow with the usual ones too.They differ from the ohm of the coils of course) Those clearomizers are very expensive. Esspecially since you have to buy more than one unit, if you don't want to vape the same liquid all the time, but they are so much worth it. Can't recommend them enough.
That beeing said, i usually don't recommend the subtank for everyone, since it really takes some getting used to, and you have to halve the nicotine of your liquids for sure. The most people vape them at 3 or 6 mg at best.

If you want to try building your own coils, the subtank comes with a RBA unit. (and a 0,5 and 1,6 ohm coil) Cotton and tools are included as well. And the subtank mini fits beautiful to the i'stick 40w TC.

ye, i was close to order the subtank with RBA unit, but then i read that it would have a too high liquid consumption for my taste.
I'm already happy with a (working)evod coil @ 2ohm @ 7.5w, and got the istick 40 more because of the dimensions/look and otherwise solid functionality.
i measured the resistance of all 5 evod coil units(stated at 1.8ohm) in one pack, and all but one were at ~2 ohm.
the other was at ~3 ohm, but whatever i will rebuild them anyways with own coil and cotton wool(instead ofthe usual silica wick).

Yes it's much higher, but didn't say your are mixing yourself? When mixing myself i'm at ~ 0,70 cent / 10ml. That's far from beeing to expensive even if i would vape 2 of those a day. If i'd try hard i wouldn't even vape 10ml. But that's just me. I don't know how much you need. Guess it's not that much as you didn't smoke before ;P (i quit smoking 4 years ago and started vaping mid last year)

Then the nautilus mini is for you ;P It's a huge upgrade from evod style clearomizers. If you consider the standard nautilus, be aware they just ship with the standard coils. The nautilus is slightly underrated in general, as the reviews are done without the BVC's in mind,. The ones they review only vape ok for a couble of days, while the BVC coils can be used for 1 or 2 months without much change in taste. They also can be vaped up to 18 watts without problems.

I decided on the hallowed tank because the other special tanks symbol looks like a penis xD But yea i also thought its leaking but the problem was that after refilling, the Liquid was between the metal and the glass. After cleaning it with toilet paper or alike it stopped leaking. So after all you just have to refill the tank very carefully. Btw, a friend of mine got the grey istick as well and i have to admit it looks really awesome combined with the hallowed tank. Still doesn't beat the silver istick with the subtank @ cyan or black o-rings ;P

Nice. where did you buy them? btw i just tested the TC heads for the nautilus by vapeonly. I can't recomment them for the istick 40 TC. 40 watts just is way to much. Drip tip starts getting really hot after 4-5 hits. With other TC mods its possible to cut the watts. i stick 40 only let's you cut the temp. Always fires with 40 watts at button press. No problem with the ni200 coils for the subtank though. Those work like a charm. 255-285° is the sweet spot for me.

I read they changed the spare rings from red to black with the mini edition of the subtank. White orings are nice in combo with the white silicon case of the i stick.

today my titan wire came(AWG28, grade1), so i could try TC for the first time, and oh my god - it works so well.
Until now i used the RBA with the preinstalled coil, and the 0.5 / 1.2 OCC coils.
The RBA setting delivered alot of vape, and good taste, BUT it was also cracking loudly at the first puff, after that it got pretty hot at the following puffs.
The OCC coils are calm, but does not taste as intensive, and the vape is pretty thin aswell.

now with titan and TC (0.48Ohm, 7 wraps around 3mm, 220°, 20W http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp?mat=ti1&...3&ll=2) it's as silent as the OCC coils, but the vape is so dense, and the taste is more intensive but at the same time milder, as if you would drink milk with your lungs. :D

Yes i did. But my subtanks came with the first gen RBA coils. Without the additional liquid holes. Wouldn't it make more sense to rebuild the OCC heads with titan?
More place for the liquid as those are smaller. I'll give the RBA coil another shot some time. Its nice for testing purposes. Never tried titan wire.

They say TC mode has very little tolerance when it comes to resistance differences.
And with the OCC-coils, the wire is only pressed against the poles, which makes them more prone for resistance change(could be quite annoying to rebuild them anyway).
About more place for liquid, the tank itself limits it when you refill. :P

BTW, tested the TC of the istick 40 a bit, with adjusted temperature for titan, and it seemed to work good aswell.

My ni200 coils make a very annoying pop sound when they're cold on the first hit. I thought that's because of the 40 watts. Do you have the same issue with the titan wire? (@ istrick 40wTC)

i guess, you can't eliminate the pop sound completly at the first hit, but it works much better here with titan and TC on the RBA, than it was before(because that was quite anoying, and i tried to fix it with different amounts of cotton - but couldn't get it satisfying)

But anyway, the TC works well and silent on the istick40 too with my RBA build, and it seems, that it doesn't shoot so high with temperature.
The VTC mini seems to shoot higher temperature with only 25w, than the istick with 40w, at about the same max temperature setting (130°-150° for titan on the istick, which is about 220°-240° in reality).

The annoying and loud popping at the first hit, i'm only getting in TC mode with the blue OCC coils. With the 0,5 and 1,2 ohm coils it's fine. Guess i'll order the new RBA v2. /or just order another complete set of subtank mini white :d Problem is i don't really need a third one. But i want this white sub tank so badly.

After i build another coil with only 2.5mm diameter, it was popping again lol(maybe too little cotton between the coils).
Now back at 3mm diameter, and lots of cotton, it's silent again(after i spilled the STM completly by forgetting to apply the top again of the RBA v2 :D).
But if you take titan wire, you first have to clean it(wet microfibre seems to do) then fix it into the RBA before doing the coils, and heat it up with lower watt, to make it easier to wrap afterwards, or it will be very springy and the coils doesn't stay in place and get too big.

i don't think that the "95%" is arbitrary, but that it's an even modest estimation by adding results of studies, and experiences with the actual ingredients(propylenglycol, glycerine, nicotine, flavour).

It's a fun little hobby as well and if you mix your liquid yourself, it's even cheaper than smoking. A lot cheaper if you bought a normal package of cigarettes per day and a little cheaper if you rolled yourself. However, if you buy shit from a shop, depending on how much you vape, it can be more expensive than smoking even.

I started with mech mods and rdas right from the beginning btw and I totally dislike tanks. I'd like to try out a regulated device sometime though. Mainly because constant power output until the battery is empty and also temperature control. Otherwise I still prefer nimble mech mods for their size and simplicity.

I was smoking since 20 years, tried some cheapo e-cigs a year ago didn't do shit for me, because the vapor production was sub optimal, I had to suck on that thing so much that I turned blue, still smoked cigarettes after that.

2 weeks ago I bought a mechanical mod, with a Kanger subtank, just for the shits and giggles, with some 18mg fluid, haven't smoked a cigarette since those two weeks.

It's kind of perfect, now, I do think I was pushing it with 18mg, since I was smoking lights at the end, so next batch of liquid will be 12mg.

The only problem I'm facing now is getting to find the best e-liquid for me, especially since the supposedly "better" stuff is hardly available in Europe. Frankly, 2 weeks now I spend 10 EUR for e-liquid and that is my whole expense, I'd be looking at 50EUR if I'd still be smoking cigarettes - pretty nice.

For 25€, you already get 1L of nicotine-base here (10mg, which would kill me in the subtank tho :P).
Then you can get flavours for 1€@1ml, where the required dosage is only about 1-1.5%, so it could be enough for 100ml liquid, which would cost you 3,50€ in the end.
For that price you couldn't even get 10ml of retail liquid.
With only 1€ for the flavours, you can also try many different without much loss if you don't like some of them. (my favourites until now are lemon and apple cox orange from herrlan flavours)

not really confident enough yet to mix my own liquids, and since I just started I have find a nice flavor first, just testing now, ordering 5ml samplers.

I really don't think direct-inhale with a sub-ohm clearomizer looks gay at all. It's actually the opposite ;P I made quite a few people change their mind about e-cigs (at work etc.) People keep beeing interested, until they can't resist buying the same equipment.
